CHICAGO MARKET. Qice Chicago Journal Commerct tf Pric$ Currtnt, ) . June 17th, 186d. J DRY GOODS. There has been rather more doing since our last report, though at easier prices for Domestic Cotton goods. On several makes of Brown, and Bleached Sheetings we reduce quotations c. Domestic Gingham are generally lower for tbe leading makes. Brown Drills. Tickings and Corset Jenes are also shaded from previous list. Prints are unsettled and lower, except for dark and desirable styles. The declioe in Domestic Cottons is attributable to the changed position and pros pects of the market for tbe raw material. "The ex cessive feur ot scarcity of the raw staple that was entertained on both sides of tbe Atlantic a few weeks ago. has," says tb New York Sliippiny Lint, "in a great measure subsided, and the speculative mmia has completely died away, thus leading to a gmdualy softt-ning of prices. Thus the main prop to high prised goods has been knocked away, and a grudualy settling down of prices wouid seem to be inevitable, aj the. spring trade is over. Uatil within ibe last few days, Prints were among the strongest of Cotton goods: but a desire to clear off lirht st ?!cs has led to general weakening and de cline round. Sheeting and Shirtings have also been marked down in some cases, but these reduc tions somehow fail to enliven business. Buyers persistently cling to the hand to thonth policy, and the necea.ity of replenishing will probably lead to a desultory trade till tbe Fall season opens." CATTLE. The market at the opening of the week under review ruiled dull and unsatisfactory. There was no impovement to note in tbe tenor of Eastern advisHS, and but for tbe fact that the re ceipts were unusuilly light, a further decline in prices must havs b'-en the consequence. The fresh receipts were but 85S hiad, and entered sales 1.283 taken at the range of 350 I 75 for common to mixed lots ; $51 for cemmin to good butchers' cattle and st ck steer? : fi 257 for common to fair shipping beeves and 7 25(28 25 for good to choice smooth steers. . m m BROWNVILLE MARKETS.
