Indians. Last Saturday our city was
refreshed by the entrance of quite a .lot
of Indians of the Winnebago tribe., under
the leadership of Young Prophet, a chief,
and their interpreter Marshall St. Cyr.
They strolled 'round town through the
day, in the evening favored our citizens
with "hrep" Indian concert and dancing.
Their performances were first rate for
Indians, and the energy and sweat evap
orated immense. They were generally
cleanly looking, yet shirting must have
been scant with them, for they forcibly
illustrate the couplet:
"Lo ! tb por Indian whose untutored mind,
Cioihea him before and leaves him baro behind."
