The M. E. Sabbath School Pic Nie
st Friday was ia all respects a perfect
success. The children, both young and
old, enjoyed themselves hugely. The
weather was pleasant, and the grove re
sounded with merriment. Altogether
it will bs remembered with satisfaction
by all who participated. A huge cake
was ccnAPyed to our office by Col. Ma
jors, fcr which cur thanks are due these
who remembered the primer, for we
think the 43rd commandment should
read: "Remember the printer in the
days of thy prosperity, that a clear con
science may be thine in the hour of ad
versity." An establishment long needed in this
city has at length been established.
Messrs. Johnson & Morgan have opened

They will keep the best of cooks to cater

dish so fancy or substantial bnt can be
had then. Drop in.

The Latest Fashions.
Since the invention and successful in
troduction the Celebrated Duplex !
l.ptic ( T double Spring Hoop Skirt by
Mr. J. W. Bradley cf Nw Ycrk, the
ladies throughout the country have given
up the idea of discarding the fashion of
wearing hocpskirts on account ef the p;
culnr and grateful manner iu which the
Duplex Skirts adapt themselves to every
exigency and emergency. So generally
acceptable have these Skirts become that
the ladies regard them as a special fa
vorite in view cf the superior flexibility,
lightness and duribility combined in their
manufacture. Ther also consider them
a far more economical and comfortable
Hoop Skirt than ever has or can be made
for all crowded assemblages, for the
promenade or house dress. Any lady
after wearing one of these Skirts will
never afterwards willingly dispense with
their use. Long experience ia the man
ufaciure of Hoop Skirts has proven to the
proprietors of this invention, that single
springs will always retain that stiff, un
yieldins and bungling style which has
ever characterised them, whereas the
double spriDg hoop or the Duplex Ellip
tic, will be found free from these object
ions. Notwithstanding the ability of the
manufacturers, Messrs. Wests, Bradley
&. Cary, to turn out over six thousand
Skirts per day from their large manufac
tories in New York, they feel obliged to
request all merchants ordering the Da
plex Skirts, to send their orders a few
days before they are wanted, if possible,
as they are always most constantly over
sold some days-ahead.
