We have not had a reply in answer to
our querry about the renting of the Ferry,
in the absence of a direet nnswer from
the parties- interested, we shall give par
ticulars as to how it was managed
The Council metpresent, C. G. Dor

Jamison and Morrison, Councilmenf.W.
G. Glasgow, absent. The question of
renting the Ferry was taken up, when
Mr. Cogsdell offered a buTcf $20 per
month, and Mr. Jemison offered, on the
part cf C. W. Stout, a bid of 830 ; after
some considerable discussion, a vote was
taken on Mr. Cogsd ell's proposition,
Messrs. Ccgsdell and McLaughlin voting
for, it and Messrs. Jamison and Morri
.son, against it, this made a lie, when the
Jtfayorjjave the casting vote, and Mr.
Cogsdell's proposition of $20 a month
was accepted in preference to $30 a
raonjh frcjn Mr. Stout, who we know
could give a? good security as anyone
for the performance ef his duty, andhe
would have worked on the boat himself
and superintended its running, while new
