in our city, and a few good "sells." Our
St. Joseph Daily Herald, confining the
lucky numbers, was anxiously scanned by
at.leait 150 unfortunates in one day.
Happy faces became suddenly lengthen
ed, hilarity f mothered in disappointment.
A few dry caughs intended to pass for
alaugh--and the victim vamoosed. We
consoled them "muchly." They are too
smart for luck, so we quoted divine in
junction to "multiply and increase," but
temporal affairs were uppermost, and they
felt more plainly "some done" in "sub
traction.'.' Not a priza was drawn in this
ci'y, that we've heard of.- It will doubt
less be "balm to the wcunded" to know
that the House does not change hands ;
the lucky number 50,813 r remained
unsold, consequently the House still be
longs to Patee. Some have so far re

Our people are too smart "that's what's
the matter." Nebraska City folks have
doubtless "drawed hughly." '
