V. Middleto-. The news of the capture of Gen. Lee and his army, received here last Friday, caused considerable enthusiastic excite ment. The big gun was brought out and ed; all, with a few exceptions, wore smilinrr countenances, and thos that didn't kept mainly in-doors. At night a grand illumination took place. , The report originated in the capture of Fitz hugh Lee, and not Robert, as was here supposed. The correction wa3 found in ast Sunday's mail, when all agreed that we had illuminated for the fall of Rich mond, &c. Monday morning news came well confirmed, lhat Gen. Lee and his entire army had surrendered cu terms proposed by Gen. Grant. This is doubt less true. Car. t we have anotl er grand illumination. . The uewj is good enough to warrant a grand jubilee.
