The boiler at. R. V. Mum's S. team Mill on the eppote side of the! rier from this place, exploded on Friday last, making a complete wre.k of the whele mill, and, strange to say, no cue was .seriously injured. The boiler burst at a-rust joint where it had become quite thin It was a 24 foot boiler, and turned end pver nd twice, landing about 10 rods from where it started. The greatest number of engrav ings ever published in one issue are in the April number, seventy-eight in all, more than can be found in any other three magazines. And be it further enacted, That if any person, shall sell, exchange, give, bar ter, or dispose of any spirituous liquor or wins to any Indian under tho charge of any Indian superintendent or Lidian agent appointed by the United States, or shall introduce or at tempt to introduce . Any spirituous liquor or wine into the Indian country, such person, 011 conviction thereof before tlie proper district court of the United States, shall b imprisoned for a period not exceeding two years, and shall be fined not more than three hundred dollars: Provided, however, Thai it shall be a suffici ent deft-nee for introducing or attempting to introduce liquor into the Indian country if it proved to le done by order of tha War Dj partiuent, or of any officer duly authorized thereto by the War Depa tment." And if any superintendent of Indian affairs. Indian agent or sub-agent, or commanding offijer of a mil itary po.-t, has reason to suspect or is iuformed that ai.y white person or Indian is about toin roduceor baa introduced any spirituous liquor or wine into tho Indian louutry, in violation of the provisions of this section, it shall be lawful lor such superintendent, agent, hub age.it, or commanding officer, to cause the boats, stores, packages, wagons, sleds, and places of deptsit of such pcrsuu to be search ed ; and if any such liquor is found therein, the same, together with the boats, teams, wag ons and sleds used in conveying the same, and also the goods, packages, and peltries of such person, shall be seized and delivered to the proper officer, aud shall be proceeded against by libel iu the proper court, and for feited, one half to the informer and the other half to the use of tho United Sutes; and ii such person be a trader, his license shall be revoked and his bond put in suit. And it shall moreover be lawful lor any person in the service of tho United States, or any Indian, to take and destroy any ardent spirits or wine found in the Indian country, except such as may be introduced therein by the War De partment.
