Important from the Cherokee Na

Ross the Cherokee Chief, had called
8,000 Cherofcees about him, and declared
for the Union, Re.-.d, r.n influential half
breed and a secessionists, had raised the
standard of revolf, ar.d had had a skirmish

Ross was victorious. This information
is in conflict with recent reports that Ross
and the whole Nation had declared for
secession, but we arc assured by one of
the government scouts, now in the city,
who knows all about the Southwest, that
it is relhMe. St. Loiiit Democrat.

A Spunky Horse
At the commencement of the battle of
Manassas, Lieut. Hasbrouck, of the West
Point Battery, was riding a little sorre
horse. In a short time he was shot three
times, and from loss of blood became too
weak for further service. He was strip
ped of bridle and saddle and turned loose
as his owner supposed, to die. In the
hrat of the contest nothing more was
thought of the little sorrel, nor was he
seen again until the remnant of the bat
tery was far towards Washington on the
retrrnt. It paused at Centreville, and
while resting there Lieut. Hashrcjck
was delighted to be joined by his faithful
horse, which by a strong instinct had
obeyed the bugle call to retreat ; and had
found his trus position with the l attery,

Ayer'sSarsaparilla
A compound rcmcdr, designod to be the most
effectual Alterative "that can be made. It is
a concentrated extract of Para Sarsaparilla,
eo combined with other substances of still
greater alterative power as to afford an effec
tive antidote for the diseases Sarsaparilla is
reputed to cure. It i believed that such a
remedy is wanted by those who suffer from.
Strumous complaints, and that one which will
accomplish their cure must prove of immense
service to this large class of our afflicted follow
citizens. How completely this compound will
do it has been proven by experiment on many
of the worst cases to be "found of the following
Complaints :
Scrofuia Axn Scrofulous Cojipl tttts,
Eruption. ani Eruptive Diseased, Ulceus,
Pimples, "Blotches, Tumous, Salt Rheum,
Scald Head, Syphilis and Syphilitic Af
fections, Mercurial Disease, Dropsy, Neu
ralgia or Tic Douloureux, Deiiilitt, Dys
pepsia AND INDIOESTION, ERYSIPELAS, lloE
or Sr. Anthony's Fire, and indeed thj whole
class of complaints arising from Iupubity of
thr Blood.-
This coinpottnd will be fo-m l a grcai pro
moter of liealth, when taken in th spring, to
expel the foul humors which fost.-r ia the
blood at that season ot tha year, jjy tne time
ly expulsion of thorn many rankling diord rs
are nipped in th? bill. MuTutuJjs can, by
tha aid of this remedy, spare themsclvos from
the endurance of foul" eruptions and ulcerous
sores, through which the system will strn2 to
rid itself of corruptions, if not agisted to do
this throug1 tlie natural channels of the body
by an alterative medicine. CL-ansp out the
vitiated blood whenever vow find its impurities
bursting through tlie skin in pimples, eruptions,
or sores; cleimse it when you find i. is ob
structed and sluggish in the veins ; cLvuivjit
whenever it is foul, and your feelings wiil tell
you when. Even where no particular diord"r
i3 felt, people enjoy better liealth, flnd live
longer, for cleansing th.3 blood. Keep the
blood hcalthv, and all is well ; but with this
pabulum of life disordered, there can be no
lasting heulth. Sooner or later something
must wron?, and the great machinery oi
life is disordered or overthrown.
Sarsapariihi has and deserves much, tha
TPnutarion of aocomnli-'hinx these ends. But

preparations of it, partly oecnu serine ru-
alone has not oil tne virtue mat is cwiinw
for it, but more bocauso many preparations
prstendiiv to be concentrated extracts ot it,
- . .. .-11-
contain hut little ot tue virtue ot oarsapariua,
or any thing else.
During late years the public have been mis
led bv large bottles, pretending to give a quart
of Extract of Sarapnriila lor one dollar, io .l
of these have been frauds upon the sick, fjr
they not only contain little, if rtriy, Sar.opa
riila, but often no curative properties whatev
er. Hence, bitter and painful disappointment
run followed the use of the various extracts of
Sarsapai i'r.i which flood the market, until the
name itself is justly despised, and has become
synonvmous with imposition and cheat. Stul
we call this compound Sarsaparilla, and intend
to supply such a remedy as shall rescua tlie
name from the load of obloquy which rest
upon it. And we think we have ground for
believing it lias virtues which are irrcistibb
bv the ordinary run of the diseases it 14 intend
ed to cure. In oid. r to secure their complete
eradication from the system, the remedy fehould
lie judiciously taken according to directioru on
tlie bottle.
