Temperance Sleeting a meeting

by E. Klauhcr of the "Bee Hive Galle

rendered his' gallery famous throughout
the country. The picture itself is 10 1-2
by 12 1-2 inches, and is a lifelike repre

nan, who withstood, not only the temp

warm-hearted friends in the South, but,
with a handful of half-starved men, stood
up and battled so bravely, with the fear

to protect the flag of his country. See

Pleasant Serenade. On Tuesday

Sprinkle's Mills. It is with pleasure

tTs have a mill they can at all times
iepend upon matters not whether "the
ater is high" or "low."
This is a branch of business we have
It.; felt the great need of; and to Mr.
Sprinkle too much praise cannot be given. I
He has fpent $12,000 in the erection of
this mill, which is acknowledged by all to
te the best and most substantial in every
respect, not only in the Territory, but in
the whole upper country. Every citizen,
not only ct tne town but county, ought to
feel it a duty incumbent upon them to
patronize and sustain such a worthy enter
prise : "we know they wilf do it.
bo soon as the two mills are entirely
completed we will again refer to them
and in detail.
Masonic. We are indebted to Bro.
W. C. Munger, of Louisville, Ky., for a
large group cf faithful likeness, finely
executed, and presenting a pleasing ar
ray cf faces who are admired for their
zeal and devotion to masonry.
The group contains Ilobt. Morris of
Kentucky; N N Barrett of Connecticut;
Thomas R Austin, InJ.; John Sheville,
N. Y.; James C Lucky, 111.; Stillman
Blanchard, Michigan; George H Fleming
Ky.; George D. Norris, Alabama; Peter
Thatcher, jr., Ohio; D Vi Thompson, III;
Elisha D Cock, Ky.
We are informed that the gateway
within which these eleven likenesses are
represented, is a faithful copy of the
sculptured gateway at Karnac, Egypt,
only substituting Masonic emblems for
hieroglypicical symbols. It is copied from
a photograyh in Frith's Views of Egypt.
This Gateway is about sixty feet high.
It was built under Ptolomy Energets, a
bout three hundred years before Christ.
As this was only about three hundred
years after the building of Jerusalem,
and Nehemiah, it doubtless presents as
nearly as may be, a representation cf the
gateway of that renowned city.
Our masonic friends and others who
desire to examine the above will call at
our ssnctura. The whole picture is 25
by 27 inches in size.
