On Friday last Gcorce Eiclljiart,
one of the hand on the Steam Ferry
JJoaf at this point, accidentally fell over
board, and sank to rise no more before
assistance could ' reach hitn.. The body
was found next day, within a few rods of
where he sank. A coroner's inquest was
held, and n verdict returned in acco d
aiKe vhh the above facts. The deceased
had no relatives hereabouts, we believe.
Ilis tody was taken charge of, and de
cently intered Ly his countrymen of this
city.
Steamers.. .
The Asa IVilgvs, from St. Loui-5,
reached this place on Friday morning.
'She discharged large lots of freight fur
several of our houses.
The Omaha, of the Han. Si St. Jo. R.
R. Packet Line, made our wharf Friday.
She too put off freight for Hill, Martin Si
Co., and several other houses. The olli
ging officers have our thanks for favors.
CasseFs Illustrated Family Bible.
Cassell, Fetter Sc Galpin, New York,
have commenced the publication, in num
bers, of an Illustrated Family Bible. It
is issued on the 1st and 15th of each
month,- at 15 cents a number. We have
before l No. 132 pages profusely illus
trated with large and splendid engrav
ings; and embracing chapters 1 t) 1G in
clusive of Genesis. If the publishers conti
nue in the same style as the present num
ber, the work when completed will be
the mca magnificent illustrated Bible ex
tant. The price, too, is much below that
of any 'other similar work before publish
ed. ' - '
Rill's Warehouse.
Theo. Hill, Commission Merchant of
this city has just completed another large
Warehouse at the steamboat landing.
This will be quite un accommodation to
thippers, , Hill will keep pace with the
wants of the trade.

Elac Spring Crossing.
Mr.. Chambers, of the firm of Cham
bers Sc Noyes, who have recently oon
structed a most excellent bridge across
Big. Blue River, at Blue 'Springs, was in
our city this week, and reports a fine
rame froci Brownville to that point. He
thinks Pike's Pt-akers starting from this
placewill find it to their advantage to go
by the way of Blue Springs.
First Shipment of Cattle from Ne
braska. W. L. Botdstox, Esq.. of Nebraska
City, crossed the river at this place on
Tuesday last, with a lot of fat entile for
the Eastern market. He goes from here
St. Joseph, from thence by Rail Ruad.
This, we believe, is the first shipment of
tke kind from Nebraska. Another year,
arid we will have a surplus of almost
every thing. .
Eocky Mountain Herald. .
