.We clip ihe following from a corres
pondence of the Nebraska City People's
rrcss :
"A good night's rest, a good breakfast,
and lidding adieu to our kind hearted
frjends, singing 'I'll stem ihe storm,"
and facing the music of a cold "south
easter," we headed the ,pro'.v,' of our
horseship towards the locality of the vil
lage of banking houses, churches and
siores, that form the City of llrownvillo.
'Occupying, as it docs, a prominent po
sition, on the great thoroughfare of trade,
urrouuded by a ferule and wtdl settled
country, and numbering among its citi
zens, many enterprizing, high-minded,
public spirited gentlemen, in the various
departments of business, Urov:ivi!le can
rot but obtain an elevated point in the
grade of western towns to which it be
longs. " 'The Presbyterians have a commodious
building nearly completed, with a loud
bell erected through the untiring perse
verance of L. Hoadley, Esq., and the
citizens of Brownville and Eastern friends.
The Congregationalism have a brick buil
ding nearly finished. So have the Camp
bellites. Long live the many friends we
found in this thriving place ; and as long
as memory holds a seat in our brain, shall
ve remember their hospitality and friend

Dr. Smueker has evidently prepared this wrk
