It is soothing and pleasant ; it gives more perma
nent as well as instant relief than anything ever be
fore used, and its sedative influence over nervous
pain is highly appreciated by medical men, many of
whom have used it. Read this from Dr. Elkintun,
a physician who has practiced since 1S3G (too well
known for comment):
"At intervals during thirty years past, my wife
has been subject to rheumatism of the most violent
cast say four times a year sometimes so severe as
to make it necessary to administer largo doses of the
tincture of guiacum and merphia, and rock her like
an infant in a large rocking chair, to induce any re
pose. Ilavingfroquent correspondence with my son
(102 Chesnut street of ycur city) I informed him of
an attack she had about the middle of hut month,
(January), which was of such severity as to com
pletely paralyze the system. He, in bis anxiety for
his mother's welfare, sent me a bottle of ycur Electric
Oil, but as I am one of the practioner? of medicine
in our place, and not a proselyte to any ki ad of patent
me licine, I d d hesitate to give it a trial ; however,
on reflection, I eoncluded to try it which I did, and
after the third and fourth application the became
rather passive, and before one-third of tl e bottle was
used not a vestage of the disease remained, and she
still continues well, although she rode out a distance
of fourteen miles without a renewal of nny of the
symptoms. I therefore felt it my duty, for the sake
of buffering humanity, to forward this testimonial.
. - 1 am yours truly,
JOSEPH P. ELKLNTON, M. D.
Believe and Avoid Pain.
Pain is the penalty for violated law, yet in God's
Providence pain is a friendly admonition instead of
a vindictive cruelty. Were there no pain from a
burn we would be liable to lose our limbs and not
know it, die and not cognizant of our situation.
Thank God for pain if not well that y iu may dis
cover a remedy to get SPEEDY RELIEF, and be
careful in the future. Facts are stubborn, and if you
have a limb swollen from GOUT, IXFLAMATOilY
RHEUMATISM, a BAD SPRAIN, a BURN, a long
growing and PAINFUL ABSCESS, you would soon
know it if relieved, without the aid of imagination.

Spear's 1'atent Corn IIusKer.
A machine capable of Husking as much Corn in a day
as ten bands !
Speare's Pttent Corn riin-ker was introduced to the
uotice of Eastern agriculturists, iu January lant, and
the immediate recognition of Its great merits, and the
approbation it has met with from the farming commu
nity is fully tested by the fact that since is introduc
tion to the notice of the agricultural public in the cast
and south, (only six mouths since,) 2000 hus-kera nave
been sold.
The machine is now upon exhibition st our office in
St. Louis, and we respectfully invite the farmersand
agriculturists of this and the adjacent Counties aud
States to call and satisiy themselves by personal inspec
tion of the machine, of the simplicity of its couatruc
tion, the eay and perfect manner In which it performs
its work, and the immense saving of time and labor it
effects.
Dealers and agents have now a chance of more ample
remuneration, by purchasing this machine, than will
asain occur for years in thi'rectiun of the West. Let
them at once communicate with us and they will find
onr terms to be the most liberal and encouraging. We
also ctler for sale county rights at a very low figure and
upim easy term?.
The Hunker wiil be on exhibition at the next State
Fair in St. Louis, aud we will guarantee to the purch

satisfaction, otherwise the purchase muney will be re
funded. Price twelve dollars each.

TESTIMONIALS. John A. Clark, one of the Editors
or the Evening Dispatch, Augusta, Gcoigia, writes as
follows :
New TORK.Jnne 17, 1859.
Mcstrt. N. T.Speart Sf Co Sirs After having at
tentively watched the operation or your Coru Quaker
it is a privilege to bear testimony to the great merit of
the invention. You have claimed for it nothing which
it has not in my preeuce proved itself enpable. Our
farmers will appreciate your Utor9, and it is not need
ed that I should wieh you a success which is already in
your gras.p.
Eespectf ully, &.c, JOHN A. CLARK.
Ebizabeth Town, N. J., Jan 22, 1353.
Mctsrt. y. T. Spears Co. Gents. Your Corn
Huiker was received this morning. I started off imme
diately with my horses aud wagon to try my hand at
shelling. I traveled ouly a few miles, as every farmer
wished to see the Uusfcor wurk. I got back about eight
o'clock, making a circuit cf about four mile, I void ten.
That will do for half a day's wotk. IcanselloCO. Your
fortune is made. Yours, respectfully.
WILLIA5T NILES.
It has also received strong expressiens of commenda
tion from Hon. C. S. Fiint, Secretary of the Massachu
setts Board cf Agriculture, Hon. J.T C. Smith. ex
Mayer of Bstou. Hollis Bowman, of Bangor. Me. Hon.
James Allen, or Massachusetts, non Marshall P Wilder
of Massachusetts, Prof . Mapes, of New York, and nu
merous others. . .
Iuaddition to the above, we have csrtiflcatcs from a
large number of distinguished men, who are interested
iu our agricultural industry, who endorse the mcrUs of
this machine iu the strongest terms.
Among them, the Hon. Henry W. Benchley, of Mass.,
who s:iys : -
I have bad repeated opportunities of witnessing the
practical operation of Mr. Spoar'.s Corn Husker, and
have tested it thoroughly, and unhesitatingly pronounce
it beyond comparison the best, if not the only practical
without injury to the corn, and with astonishing rapid
ity. Its simplicity of construction, rapid aud efficient
working and low price, will, in my judgments command
for it an un.imited sale.
The undert.ii;ncd have the pleasure of informing the
farmiuS community that thoy have this day, August 29,
1359, purchased from the patentee the right cf man
ufacturing and selling "Spear's Corn Ilusker." aud are

"COMBINATION PATENT."
LPUIGIIT STEAM SAW MIIX.
This mill commands the universal admiration of saw
mill men everywhere. Aa its merits become known, the
demand for it increases. Orders are coming from every
section of this country, Canada, Cuba, and South Ameri
ca. It is fuited for every section of the world wherever
there is timber to be sawed,' no matter of what character
how hard, how large or how iinall. Two extensive ma
nufactoriei are now engaged iu building these mills, yet
it is almost impossible to turn them tut as fast as they
are wanted. They embrace, several valuable patents
and impro vements, and combine all of the following ad-
Simplicily Both the mill and power are so simple in
their construction that anyone of ordinary mechanical
ability can comprehend them, put them up and run them
without danger or difficulty.
Portability The whole establishment can be very
quickly taken apart and put togethor, thus rendering it
easy to be moved from place to place adcsired. and sav
ing the necessity of drawing the logs a long distance to
Durability It is constructed in the most solid and
substantial manner, runs perfectly still, is not liable to
get out of order, and will ljst for years without repair.
Rapidittf It will saw faster than any other upright
upright mill. The speed of the saw is about three fcun
dred strokes per minute, and the feed fiom one-eizhts to
three-quarters of an inch per stroke. Thus, at a medium
speed the saw will cut through a log r.wenty-fonr feet
long in about three minutes. From "his data any one
knowing the character of the timber cau calculate how
much it will do.
Efficiency It does Its work well, cuts smoother and
straighter than the ordinary mills, and tbearraneemeut
of the saw is such as to render it utterly impossible for
it to run out of line.
Cheapness The entire iost of the mill, with fifteen
horse power and everything all complete and ready for
running, boxed aud ready for shipment in St. Louis, i
only $1.50.
This mill requires less power tod!ve than any other
mill, and the power furnished is su3cicnt to drive extra
machinery.
