This mill commands the universal admiration of saw
mill men everywhere. As its nmits become known, the
demand for it increases. Order are coming from every
section of this country, Canada, Cuba, and South Ameri
ca. It is suited for every section of the world wherever
there is timber to be sawed, no natter of what character
how hard, how large or how fmsll. Two extensive ma
nufactories are now engaged in building these mills, yet
it is almost impossible to turn them out as fust as they
are wanted. They embrace several valuable patents
and improvements, and combine all of the following ad
Simplicity Both the mill and power are so simple in
their consiructton that anyone of ordinary mechanical
ability can comprehend them, put them up and run then
without danger or difteulty.
Portability The whole establishment can be very
quickly taken apart and put toge:hor, thus rendering it
easy to be moved froi place to place asdesired, and sav
ins the necessity of drawing the logs a long distance to
Durability It is constructed in the meet solid and
substantial manner, rnns perfectly still, is not liable to
get out cf order, and will last for years without repair.
Rapidity It will saw faster than any other upright
upright mill. Tho 6?eed of the saw is about three hun
dred strokes per minute, and tbe feed from one-eightfc to
three-quarters of an Inch per stroke. Thu3, at a medium
speed the saw will cut through a log twenty-four feet
long in about three minutes. From this data anyone
knowing the character of the timber can calculate how
much it will do.
EJfiiciency It does its work well, cuts smoother and
straighter than the ordinary mills, and the arrangement
of the saw is such as to render it utterly impossible for
it to run out of line.
Cheapness The entire lost of the mill, with fifteen
horse power and everything all complete and ready for
running, boxed and ready for shipment in St. Louis, is
only $1,750.
This mill requires less power to drive than any other
mill, and thepower furnished is sufficient todriveextra
machinery.

.The recent test of Safes of the different Manifactures
in the GP.KAT FIRE or the City Buildings, in which
the Excelsior triumphed over all others, fully establish
es the superiority of the Excelsior Safe, which merits
the conlldence of all interested in Safes, and the securi
ty of their contents. The Excelsior being the only safe
after being iu the fii e for ninety hours, and taken out
red hot, that saved the Books and Papers, while a large
number of the others, in the fire but a short time, were
taken out with their contents entirely consumed, must
impress all with the necessity of examining their safes,
and those purchasing to be sure beyond a doubt, of the
Safe having stood the teit and come out victorious, we
pledge oufelves to manufacture none but such as can be
relied on, and refer to the following

Gentlemen: Having my attention called a fpw
months since to the highly beneficial effects cf j-our hair
restorative, i was irumcea to make apolication of it r.pon
my own hair, which hud become quite grav, probably
one-third white; my whiskers were of the same charac
ter. Some three months since I procured a bottle of
hair restorative, and used it. I son found it was prov
ing what I Lad wished. I used it about twice a week. I
have since procured another bottle, of which I have used
some. I can now certify t the world that the gray or
white hair has totally disappeared, both on my head and
gace, and my hair has resumed its original color, and I
am now sixty years old my good wife at the ago of fifty-two,
has used it with the same effect.
The above notice I deem due to you for your valuable
discovery. I am assured tliat whoever will rightly use
as per directions, will not Lave occasion to contradict my
statements. I am a citizea of this city and a resident
here for the last nrteen years, and am known to nearly

practicable route by personal exporience,as well aj
