Secretary Horton,
Has returned from his trip east, and we
understand has brought some fine stock
horses and-hoeps. We like to see a spirit
of this kind, by those who are aids to in
troduce new and valuable breeds cf ani
mals. We look fcr a fine sho.v of stock
at cur approaching Territorial Fair. K o
f erring to the horse brought home by Mr.
iMortcn, a Michigan paper says:
"J. Sterling Morton. Esq., of Nebraska
city, while visiting Monroe last week,
purchased the young horse Sterling Black
Hawk, of cur townsman, S. M. Sterling,
for SP-500, and has sent him to Nebraska
Territory. This young Black Hawk was
sired by the Sterling Black Hawk, pur
chased in Vermont ia lS-5i,by Ho.n. I. It.
Grcsvcner, of this city; and this stock is
frcm the best Black Hawk blood, in Ver
mont, and is held ia high estimation in
this and thf eastern States. The half
brother cf the colt now sent tu Nebraska,
took the premium two years ago at the
Illinois National Horse Show. T G.
Cole, Esq., of this city, had some thirty cf
the Black Hawk colts, and not a poor
one among the number. 1 With such stock
in Nebraska that new territory will soon
possess horses equal to the more advanc
ed States of the east,
