District of Nebraska Territory, at Urownville, in the
county of Nemaha and Terriory aforesaid, the pe
tition of the above plaintiff Louis S. Nickeson,
claiming of said defendant the sum of five hundred
dollars together witb interest on that sum at the
rate of ten per cent per annnm from the second day
of September A. I). 1858 as money due and unpaid
upon a promissory note executed by said Ilcucher
to said plaintiff. And that unless said Hencher ap
pear at tbe next terra of paid Conrt. to be begun
and hold at brownville aforesaid for said county
aforesaid on the sixttenth day of November A. D.
185S, and on or before the second day of raid term,
and plead to said petition, judgment by default will

Which arrangement will secure a certain and JLM ii A V V

safe passage at, all times and in all kinds ot
weather. The Proprietors do not assert boastingly,
or for the purpose of gaining custom merely, but are
governed by facts, when they say this is the best
crossing of the Missouri Kiver in Nebraska, ana
when they say the rouie frcm Brownville to Fort
Kearney and from thence to California is the nearest
for evidence they refer the reader to the map of the
Country; and are warranted in saying it is the most
practicable route by personal experience, as well as
that of hundreds of others who have trave'ed it.
We claim therefor that this crossing and route holds
out peculiarly favorable inducements, to persons
going to California, and solicit tbeir patronage. Not
withstanding our superior arrangements for a safe
and speedy crossing, our charges are the same as other
I emus in ebraaJia, all being rsguiatea by Legisla
tive enactment.
