AYER'S PILLS,
Akett and singularly successful remedy for the
cure of all Bilious diseases Costivcness, Indi
gestion. Jaundice, Dropsy, Rheumatism, Fever
Gout, Humors, Nervousness, Irritability, Inflamma
tions, Headache, Pains in the Breast, Side, Back,
and Limbs, Female Complaints, &c. &c. Indeed,
very few are the diseases in whirh a Purgative Medi
cine is not more or less required, and much sick
ness and suffering might be prevented, if a harm
less but effectual Cathartic were more freely used.
No person can feel well while a costive habit or
body prevails ; besides, it soon generates serious and
often fatal diseases, which might have been avoided
by the timely and judicious use of a good purgative.
This is alike true of Colds, F'everish symptoms, and
Bilious derangements. They all tend to become or
produce the deep seated and formidable distempers
which load the hearses all over the land. Hence a
reliable family physic is of the first importance to
the public health, and this fill has been pcncciea

extensive trial of its virtues by Physicians, Profes
sors, and Patients, has shown results surpassing
any thing hitherto known ol any mcaicine. uures
have been effected beyond belief, were they not sub
stantiated by persons of such exalted position and
character as "to forbid the suspicion of untruth.
Among the many eminent gentlemen wno nave
testified in favor of "these Pills, we may mention :
Prof. J. M. Locke, Analytical Chemist, of Cin
cinnati, whose high professional character is en
dorsed bv "
Jonx McLean, Judge of the tupr.n:? t.-.w.
the United States.
Thos. Corwin, Secretary of the Treasury.
Hon. J. M. Wright, Governor of Ijidisaa-
N. Lonoworth, great wine grownr of the est.
Also, Dr. J. 11. Chilton, Practical Chemist, or
New York Citv. endorsed by
Hov. W. L- Mauct, Secretary of State.
Wm. B. Astor, the richest man in America.
S. Lelasd & Co., Propr's of the Metropolitan
Hotel, and many others.
Did space permit, we could Rive many hundred
certificates, from ail parts where the Pills have
been used, but evidence even more convincing than
the experience of eminent public men is found in
their effect upon trial.
These Pills, the result of lon! investigation and
sludv, are offered to the public as the best and
incst complete which the present state of medical
science can afford. They are compounded not of
the dntsrs themselves, but of the medicinal virtues
only of Vegetable remedies, extracted cucmical
process in a itnto puriiy, and combined together
m such a manner as to insure the best results. This
system of composition for medicines has been found
in the Cherry Pectoral and Pills both, to produce a
more efficient remedy than had hitherto been ob
tained by any process. The reason is perfectly ob
vious. While by the old mode of composition, every
medicine is burdened with more or less of acri
monious and injurious qualities, by this each indi
vidual virtue only that is desired for the curative
eftect is present. All the inert ana obnoxious qual
ities of each substance employed are left behind, the
curative virtues only being retained. Hence it is
self-evident the effects should prove, as they have
proved, more purely remedial, and the Pills a surer,
more powerful antidote to disease than any other
medicine known to the world.
As it is frequently expedient that my medicine
should be taken under the counsel of an attending
l'hvsici.in. and as he could not properly iudec of a
remedv without knowine its composition, 1 have
supplied the accurate Formula? b) which both my

"COMBINATION PATENT."
UPRIGHT STILIJI SAWMILL.
This mill commands the universal admiration of saw
mill men everywhere. As its merits become known, tbe
demand for it increases. Orders arc coming from every
section of this country, Canada, Cuba, and South Ameri
ca. It is suited for every section of the world wherever
there is timber to be sawed, no matter of what character
how hard, how large or how small. Two extensive ma
nufactories arc now engaged in building these mil Is. yet
it is almost impossible to turn them out as fast as they
are wanted. They embrace several valuable patents
and improvements, and combine all of tbe following ad
Simplicity Both the mill and power are so simple in
their construction that any one of ordinary mechanical
ability can comprehend them, put them up and run them
without danger or difficulty.
Portability Tlie whole establishment can be very
quickly taken apart and put together, thus rendering it
easv to be moved from place tu place asdesired. and av
ing the necessity of drawing the logs a long distan -c to
Durability It is constructed in the most solid and
substantial manner, rum perfectly still, is not liable to
get out of order, and will last for years without repnir.
Rajndity It will saw faster than any other upright
upright mill. The speed of the saw is about three hun
dred strokes per minute, and the feed from one-eighth to
three-quarters of an inch per stroke. Thus, at a medium
speed the saw will cut through a log twenty-four feet
long in about three minutes. From this data any one
knowing the character of the timber can calculate how
much it will do.
Ejfiiciency It does its work well, cuts smoother and
straighter than the ordinary mills, at.d thearrancemnit
of the saw is such as to reader it utterly impossible lor
it t run out of line.
Cheapnest The entire iost of the mill, with fifteen
horse power and everything all complete and ready for
running, boxed and ready for shipment iu St. Louis, is
only $1.7oO.
This mill requires less power to drive than any other
mill, and the power furnished is sunk-ient to drive extra
machinery.
A circular containing full particulars will be sent to
any one desiring it. All ordert should be addressed to
