AYER'S PILLS,

Gout, Humors, Nervousness, Irritability, Inflaminv

and Limbs, Female Complaints, &c &e. Indeed,
very few are the diseases in which a Purgative Medi
cine i. not rr.ore or less required, and much sick
ness and suffering miht be prevented, if a harm
less but effectual Cathartic were more freely used.
Jfo person can feel well while a costive habit of
body prevails ; besides, it soon generates serious and
often fatal diseases, which might have been avoided
by the timelv and judicious use of a good purgative.
This is alike" true of Colds, Feverish symptoms, and
Bilious derangements. Ti-ey all tend to become or
produce the deep seated and formidable distempers
which load the hearses all over the land. Hence a
reliable family physic is of the first importance to
the public health, and tliis PiU ha been perfected

Among the many eminent gentlemen who have
testified in favor of these Pills, we may mention :
Prof. J. M. Locke, Analytical Chemist, of Cin
cinnati, whosa high professional character is en
dorsed by
John Mc-Leav, Judge of the Supremo Court of
the United States.
Thos. Corwiv, Secretary of the Treasury.
Hon. J. M. Wright, Governor ot Indiana.
N. Lomgworth, great wine grower of the West.
Also, Dr. J. 11. Chilton, Practical Chemist, of
New York City, endorsed by
Hox. W. L. Marct, Secretary of State.
Wm. B. Astob, the richest man in A"-rfca-
S. LELA.Nn & Co., Propr'. tlxe Metropolitan
Hotel, and many hers.
Did rpace permit, we could give raanv hundred
certiacates, from all parts where the Pills have
been used, but evidence even more convincing than
the experience of eminent public men is found in
their effects upon trial.
These Pills, the result of long investigation and
sludv, are offered to the public as the best and
most complete which the present state of medical
science can afford. They are compounded not of
the drugs themselves, but of the medicinal virtues
only of Vegetable remedies, extracted by chemical
process in a state-of purity, and combined together
m such a manner as to insure the best results. 1 his
svstem of composition for medicines has been found
in the Cherrv Pectoral and Pills both, to produce a
more efficient remedy than had hitherto been ob
tained bv anv process. The reason is perfectly ob
vious. While bv the old mode of composition, every
medicine is burdened with more or less of acri
monious and injurious Dualities, by -this each indi
vidual virtue only that is desired for the curative
clfect is present. All the inert and obnoxions qual
ities of each substance employed are left behind, . the
curative virtues only being retained. Hence it is
self-evident the effects should prove, as they have
proved, more purely remedial, and the Pills a surer,
more powerful antidote to disease taan any other
medicine known to the world.
As it is frequently expedient that my medicine
should be taken under the counsel of an al l ending
Physician, and as he could not properly judge of a
remedy without knowing its composition, 1 have
implied the tccuratc Formulae by which both my
r ..V,-ni -mo1 Pills are made to the whole body cf
L Practitioners in the United States and British! Amer
ican Provinces. II, however, mere si.o.uu. v -"'J
ore who has not received them, they will be
promptly forwarded by mail to his request.
Of a'l the Talent Medicines that are oRcred, how
few would be taken if their composition was known !
Their life consists in their mystery. I Lave no
nivsteries. . . T
The comr"lion of n,v preparations is laid open
to all men, ni U who iro competent ta judge on
the subject frcclv acknowledge their convictions ot
their intrinsic merits. The Cherry Pectoral was
pronounced by scientific men to be a wonderful
Jnedicine before its effects were known. M any em
inent Physichois have declared the same thing of
my Tills, and even more, confidently, and tire will
ini to certify that their anticipations were more
than realized bv their effects upon trial.
They operate by their powerful influence on the
internal viscera to purify the blood and stimulate it
into healthy action remove the obstructions of
the stomach, bowels, liver, and other organs cf the
body, jcstorinp; their irretrular action to health, and
by correcting, wherever they exist, such derange
ments as are the first origin of disease.
Bein" suear-wrapped, they are pleasant to take,
and being purely vegetable, no harm can arise from
their use in any quantity.

"COMBINATION PATENT."
UPRIGHT STUiJI SAW 311
This mill commands the universal admiration of saw
mill men everywhere. As its wcrits fcecoaie known, the
demand for it Increases. Orders are coming from every
section of this country, Canada, Cuba, and South Ameri
ca. It is suited for every section f the world wherever
there is timber to be sawed, r.o nialter of what character
how hard, how large or how small. Two extensivo ma
nufactories are now engaged in building thee mil Is, ye:
it is almost impossible to turn them cut as fart as they
are wanted. They embrace feveral valuable patents
and improvements, and combine all of the following sd.
Simplicity Both the mill and power are so simple in
their constructton that any oue of ordinary mechanical
ability can comprehend them., put them up and rua them
without dancer or difficulty.
Portability The whole establishment can be very
quickly taken apart and put togetbar, thus rendering it
easy to be moved from place to place asdeired. and sav
ing the necessity of drawing the logs a long distance to
Durability It is constructed in the most solid and
substantial manner, runs perfectly still, i not liable to
get out ol order, and will last for years without repair.
Rapidity It will saw faster than any other upright
upright mill. The speed of tho saw is about three hun
dredyStrokes per minute, and the feed from one-eight U to
three-quarters of an inch per stroke. Thus, at a medium
speed the saw will cut through a log twenty-four feet
long in about three minutes. From this data any one
knowing the character of the timber can calculate how
much it will do.
EJjiicicnc'j It does ifs work well, cuts smoother and
straighter than the ordinary mills, and the arrangement
of the saw is such as to render it utterly impossible tor
it to run out of line.
' Cheapness Tho entire iost of the mill, w ith fifteen
horse power and everything all complete and ready fcr
running, bcxed and ready for shipment in St. Louis, is
only fcl.750.
This mill requires less power to drive than any other
mill, and the power furnished is sufficient to drive extra
machinery.
Acircnlar containing full particulars will he sent to
any one desiring it. All ordert should be addressed to
