been prqiared to meet that demand, aad an esten
sive trial of its virtue has conclusively shown with
what success it accomplishes the purpose designed.
It is easy to make a physical fid, but not easy to
taake the best cf all pit.i one which should hava
none of the obiections, but all the adrantagea, of
every other. Ibis has teen attempted here, and
with what snccess we would respectfully submit to
the public decision. It has been unfortunate for
the patient hitherto that almost every purgative
medicine is acrimonious a.nd irritating to the bow
els. .Ibis is not. Many of thorn produee so much
' griping pain and revulsion in the system as to more
than counterbalance the good to be derived from
them. Thesj piXs produce no irritation or pain,
unless it axi-ie from a previously exis-dny obstruc
tion or derangement in the bowels. Eemg purely
Tegctalile, no harm can arise from their use in any
quantity ; but it is better that any medicine should
be taVen judiciously. Minute directions for their
use in the several 'diseases to which they are ap
plicable are given on the box. Among the com
plaints which have been speedily cured by them, we
may mention Liver Complaint, in its various forms
of Jaundice, Indigestion, Languor and Loss of Ap
petite, L'sUessneM, Irritability, Bilious Headache,
liilious Fever, Fever and Ague, Pain in the Bide
and Loins ; for, in truth, all these are but the con
seaucmce of diseased action in the liver. As an
aperient triev afford prompt and sure relief in Cos
ttvenesa, Files, Colic, Dysentery, Humors, Scrofula
and Scurvy, Colds with soreness of the body, Ulcers
and impurity of the blood, Irrtyrularities ; in Khort,
any and every case where a purgative is required.

stimulant action on the circulatory system, reno

wasted or diseased energies of the whole organism.
Hence an occasional dose is advantageous, even
though no serious derangement exists; but tin
necessary dosing should never bo carried too far,
as every purgative medicine reduces the strength,
when tak en to excess. The thousand cases in which
a physic is required cannot be enumerated here, but
they suggest thetaselves to the reason of every
body ; mid it is confidently believed this pill wiQ
answer better prtrpose than any thing which has
hitherto been available to mankind.1 When their
virtues are once known, the public will no longer
doubt what remedy to employ when in need cf a
cathartic medicine. Being sugar-wrapped, th?y are
pleasant to take, and being purely tegetable, no
harm can arise from their use in any quantity.
