. Swamp Lands and Lands over
which sh allow lakes have receded.
There is no principlejbettcr' settled
than that proprietors of contaminous
lands bordering on permanent bodies
of water owe their creation as riparian
proprietors. Interspersed, however,
over the public domain are multitudes
of shallow lakes or ponds, many of
which, in the early surveys, were sup
posed to be permanentbodies of water,
and meandered accordingly. But from
the changes of climate, and other nat
ural causes, many ot these lakes are

This being fully established, the Com

has decided that no lands of this class
fall under the swan.p gTant, nor-docs

the lines of the public surveys, 1 under
this decision, are extended over the
former bodies of such lakes, and the
lands are disposed of as other public
domain. In all cases, however, where

settlers or other parties interested are
desirous of securing titles to such land?,
application should be made to the Sur

executed and the proper return made
thereof to the District and General

A letter from the President of the
State Bank of, Ohio, received by his
correspondent in New York on Mon
day, rs ot an encouraging etiaracter.
m
He says the banks have arranged with
the Ohio Trust Company by. taking
bonds and mortgages for their balances,
about $300,000. This locks up that
amount, but is not equal to their un
divided profits. There are thirty-six
branches, with $4,100,000 capital, $r,
100,000 undivided profits, and $10,
000,000 bills receivable. "The banks,
the President remarks,,"are in si'more
comfortable situation than when the
Trust Company's failure occurred; the
loans are on active commercial paper,
based chiefly on the export trade of the
State, with no railroad acceptances or
bonds or slocks."

Editor "Xtbrtua Adrertiier": ,
Dear Siu: In looking over the last number of your
paper a notice attracted my attention signed by
Jerome Hoover, Esq, in which he states that certain
stories arc in circulation that tho undersigned claim
some interest in Nemaha City for the purpose of in
juring its prosperity. It may d quite well to cir
culate a report of that nature where the facts are
unknown, but to those knowing the facts such a
statement is merely foolish. m
And for the purpose of giving a fair opportunity
to persons to ascertain the facts we hereby warn all
persons from purchasing any pretended claim or
interest in the said town of Muiaha City, from the
said Jerome Hoover, as he has sold and received pay
for nine- twelfths of said town, and suit is now pending
to place the undersigned in possession of the interest
by them purchased in the same; and they hare not
authorised tbe said Hoover to sell or dispose of any
portion of their" interest, but directed Huit to be
brought long since for its recovery.

AYER'S' PILLS,
A 'vtyf tM "nriHrlt tucceislul remedy for th

gestion. Jaundice, Dropsy, Rheumatism, Fever
Govt, H amors, Nervousness, Irritability, Inflamma

and Limbs, Female Complaints, Ac. Ac Indeed,
very lew are the diaetaes in which a Purgative Medi
cine is not more or less required, and much sick
nesa and suffering might be prevented, if harm
less but effectual Cathartic were more freely used.
No person can feci well while a costive habit or
body prevail ; besides, it soon generates serious and
often fatal diseases, which might have been avoided
by the timely and judicious use of a good purgative.
This k aLke true of Colds, Feverish symptoms, and
Bilious derangements. They all tend to become or
produce the deep seated and formidable distempers
which load the hearses all over the land.. Hence a
reliable family physic is of the first importance to
the public tiealtk, and this Pill baa been perfected
with eonnuinmate skill to meet that demand. An
extensive trial of its virtue by Physicians, Profes
sors, and Patients, has shown results surpassing
any thing hitherto known of any medicine. Cures
have been elected beyond belief, were they not sub
stantiated by persons of such exalted position and
character an to forbid the suspicion of untruth.
- Among; the many eminent gentlemen who have
testified in favor f these Pills, we may mention : (
Prof. J. M. Lockb, Analytical Chemist, of Cin
cinnati, -whose high professional character ia en
dorsed by 1 ! 4 '
John McLbajt, Judge of the Supreme Court of
the United 8tatee.
Thos. Convris, Secretary of the Treasury.
- Hon. J. H. WaiQHT, Governor of Indiana.
N. LoGWonTn, great wine grower of the West.
Also, Dr. J. K Chilton, Practical Chemist, or
New York City, endorsed by
How. W. L. Makct, Secretary of State.
- Wm. B. Abtob, the richest man in America.
8. Lki.A"d A Co., Propr's of the Metropolitan
Hotel, and many others. '
Did space permit, we could give many hundred
certificates, from all parts where the Pills have
been used, but evidence even more convincing than
the experience of eminent public men is found in
their etitxrts upon triaL
" These Pills, the result of long investigation and
study, are offered to the public as the beet and
most complete which the present state of medical
science eaa afford. ' They are compounded not of
the drue themselves, but of the medicinal virtues
only of Vegetable remedies, extracted by chemical
process in a state of purity, and combined together
in such a manner as to insure the best results. This
system of composition for medicines has been found
in the Cherry Pectoral and Pills both, to produce a
more efScient remedy than had hitherto been ob
tained b any process. 1 ne reason is periecuy ca
rious. While by the old mode of composition, every
medicine is burdened with more or less of acri

effect is present. AU the inert and obnoxious qual-

self-evident the effects should prove, as they, have
ived, more purely remeduu, and the t ills a surer,
re nowerful .antidote to disease than any other
medicine known to the world. f
As it is frequently expedient that my mediciue
should be taken tinder the, counsel of an attending
Physician, and as he could not properly judiie of a
remedy without knowing its composition, I have
supplied the accurate rormuiie ny wnicn ootn my

The composition of my preparations in laid open
to all men, and all who are competent to judge on
the subject freely acknowledge their convictions of
their intrinsic merits. The Cherry Pectoral was
pronounced by scientific men to ue a wonderful

They operate by their powerful influence on the
internal viscera to purify the blood and stimulate it
into healthy action remove tho obstructions of
the stomach, bowels, liver, and other organs of the
body, restoring their irregular action to health, and
by correcting, wherever they exist, such derange

Being sugar-wrapped, they are picasant to tae,
and being purely vegetable, no harm can arise from
their use. in anr quantity.
