In O m. a zri cultural matters there is Eiill a greater change greater improTcment than in town. "The "country has gone ahead of the toirn." Farms have been opened up, fenced in, and under culti vation back 13 to 20 miles. Sncli has been the progress in agricultural pur suits in Nemaha county, that wi; -will venture this assertion, without fear of successful contradiction, and zi the same time Trith all due respect to other counties in the Territorr, viz: That no other County in Nebraska ha3 more, as good land in the same area; more land under cultivation; can shew more farm products, or a greater number of i practical, intelligent, thorough-going farmers, than Nemaha county. In regard to other town improve ments in this County. Nemaha City, and Jit. Tern on were in existence one year ao, when we arrived here. The former has been advancing steadily and is destined to be a point of some importance. The latter has made no advancement until quite recently. It is making some improvement and will make a thriving village. St. George, Glen Rock, Dayton, London, Eldorado, have been laid out the past year, and all claim advantages. The v are well distributed geographically over the luuut.v other. They all have beautiful sites, . - -' and as population and trade increases will ere long, make interior towns, of no Small importance. . In conclusion: as a County, we now yield to none other in the Territory; as a City, our past progress, present prosperous condition, many natural advantages, geographical position, and reputation abroad, are such that we verily believe less than ten years will find Erownviile the most populous and business City in the Territory. And now fellow citirens of Brown ville and Nemaha county, permit us to make you a polite bow, and thank you for past favor?. We have labored with you and for yen. and your inte rests, have shared with yen the hard- snips ana inconveniences ot a nwjpart of its editor, ns well as enter country, and rejoice with you in the ! prise cnthe part of the citizens of this light that dawns upon ns, to-day, and j Young Western City. Chief success to the Town. we trust the chanre of c erotism will no be brought against ns. when we say that the 'Advertiser',, has done mu:h towards brinrin about the rreat change which ha3 taken place all around us the past year. We make no particular claims, here as an indi vidual, preferring to let the result cf of our labors in every cauacity in t A which we have acted speak fcr or against us, as it may be. This much, however, will say: our every effort has 'been to advance the interests cf Brownville, and Nemaha county at large, and in fact have in many in stances neglected our private affairs, to look after those of the public. To keep up a newspaper, especially in this new country, requires lahor and money; and all we have to say is srive us your support rand influence the coming year, and we will do the best we can to furnish you the test paper in Nebraska. Every man can procure us one cr more new subscribers. Will you do it?
