or 320 acres of land, and thereby an effec
tual barrier is interposed to the settlement of

We do cot see wherein we, of South Flatte,
could be benefited in the least by a sale;
where men have settled in good faith, and
calculate to come under the provisions-of the
Pre-emption Law, are cow makirg every pos
sible effort to improve thdr respective claims
and to secure the $200 which must be forth
coming when they enter. We ray if a reason
able length of time be extended to this class
of our citizens it would save homes to many;
otherwise many homes would be dost, But

Douglas was discussed in committee of the
whole darir.g the entire day.r -The bill was
amended so as to read Sarpy county, instead
of Omaha. .The Council adjourned about
dark, before taking a vote on the LUL
Thursday, 29. The Council resumed con
sideration of the bill for the erection of Sarpy
county, after several ineffectual efforts to alter,
strike out, or amend, the bill was passed ar.tl
the ttlY agreed to". The consideration of thj
bill for the re-location cf tha Capitol wa3 post
poned lit tu Thursday next. 1 he Council then
went into committee of the whole and consid
ered the governor's messas. After sitting
