Das zahlreich erschienene Publikum ergötzt sich an dem prächtigen Programm. Zum achten Male jährte letzten Sonntag der Gründungstag des Da-men-Gesangvereins Concordia und dieses Ereignis wurde durch ein ge diegenes Konzert festlich begangen. Der große Saal des Omaha Musik verein, woselbst die Feier abgehal ten wurde, war mit den Farben des Vereins und Blumen in sinnreicher Weise geschmückt und auf der Bühne war das Vereinsbanner entrollt; die ganze Ansschniückung machte einen anheimelnden Eindruck. Das Pro gramm wurde mit einem Vortrag Im Mai" seitens des Damenchores eröffnet; die Pianobegleitung liefer te die tüchtige Pianistin und Piano Ichrerin Frl. Helene Mackin die sich auch bei der Wiedergabe der Herr lichen 5koniposition Jrühlingserwa chen", das ebenfalls vom Damen chor prächtig gesungen wurde, glän zend betätigte. In ihrer zlvar kleinen aber von Herzen kommenden und zu Herzen gehenden Ansprache hieß die belieb te Vereinsprästdeiitin Frl. Emma Lamp die Gästa herzlich willkommen, wies aus den Werdegang des Vereins hin und gab der Hoffnung Ausdruck, daß sich die Gäste an den gebotenen Genüssen erfreuen würden. Letzteres war von vornherein selbstverständlich, denn ein Blick auf das Prograinin genügte, um Je dem begreiflich zu machen, daß der Vereinsdirigent Papa" Reese mit seinen Sängerinnen und Sängern etwas Gediegenes leisten werde. Nicht nur die Darnenchore sprachen sehr gut an, sondern auch die ge mischten- und Männer-Chöre boten Glanzleistungen, so daß ste wieder und immer wieder hervorgerufen wurden. .Frau Ernst Reese entzückte ihre Zuhörer wieder durch ein herrliches Geigensolo, und allgemeinen Beifall fand das Geigenduett von derselben Künstlerin und Frl. Elsa Reese vor getragen, und das Duett für Violine und Klarinette, Frau Ernst Reese und Frau Fred Langhorst. Herr Ernst Reese lieferte die Pianobeglei wng in gediegener Weise. Mondnach", vorgetragen von ei nem Dovvclquartctt des Damcnge sangvereins sprach sehr gut an. Als ein trefflicher Tenorbuffo er- wies sich Herr Harrt, Disbrow, der mehrere deutsche und amerikanische Lieder mit schöner trimme fang; seine Gattin begleitete ihn dabei in diskreter Art aus dem Piano. Die humoristische Szene Eine Theaterprobe nn Madchenpenstonat", aufgeführt von Frau Reeder und den jungen Damen Margarete Hofs mann, Hattie Laur, Irene Busch, Frieda Reese, Elsa Drews und Ag nes Haarmann, sprach sehr gut an und gab zum herzigen Lachen An laß. Nach dem Konzert fand ein Tanz kränzchen statt, daß die Besucher bis gegen Mitternacht zusammen hielt. Der Vorvcauf der Einttittskar ten ging recht f sott: Frau Henry Geest allein hatte 103 solcher ver kauft. Nach deni Konzert versammelten sich die Sänger und Sängerinnen im Ratskeller, wo Präsident Strch low, Herrn Conrad Hug, den Ver treter der Kansas City Sängerfest Gesellschaft, vorstellte, der über die Vorbereitungen für das dortige Fest berichtete. Herr Hug wiederholte zuerst die bereits schriftlich eingetrof fene Einladung der Omaha'cr Sän ger und Sängerinnen zur Unterstü tzung des Kansas City Festchors beim EmpfangsKonzcrt und einem NachmiÜagsMonzert. Tann wies er daraus hin. daß Kansas City nicht weniger als 830.00O für das Fest ausgesetzt habe, daß das berühmte St. Louis Symphonie-Orchester un ter der Leitung des Herrn Max Zech, und die berühmtesten Solisten engagiert wurden. Auch für die Aufnahme der Sänger wird in gast freundlichster Weise gesorgt werden, sodaß das Kansas City Sängerfest ein Glanzpunkt in der Geschichte des Sängerbundes des 5!ordwestcns wer den wird. Tie Worte des Herrn Hug wurden mit großein Beifall aufgenommen und werden nicht we nig zu einer großen Beteiligung von Seiten unserer Omahaer am Feste beitragen. Herr Hug war der einzige Besu cher aus 5lansas City. Die zwei mideren Herren, deren Besuch ange sagt war, konnten im letzten Augen blick nicht reisen. Herr. Hug und Serr Strehlow waren Freitag und Samstag in Chicago, wo die dorti gen Sänger einen Festkommers ab hielten und sich Begeisterung für das Kansas City Sängerfest kundgab. Auch die Bundcsbehörde hielt am Sanistag m Chicago eine Versamm lung ab. Der frühere beliebte Bun dcspräsldent, Herr Theo. G. Bch rcns, Präsident, der Per. Sänger von Chicago, versprach eine vollzäh lige Beteiligung der Chicagocr Sän gcrschcuW am kowMQidm Fstk Ein erfolgreicher Alaskenball! Noch nie seit dem Bestehen deS Omaha Plattderltschen Vereins ist ein in jeder Hinsicht so erfolgreicher Maskenball Abgehalten worden, wie derjenige am Samstag. Wenn man bedenkt, daß für Eintritt allein an nähernd tzt00 vereinnahmt wurden, dann hat man von der riesigen Men ge des Besuchs eine klare Idee. Nie zuvor ist ein größerer finanzieller Erfolg zu verzeichnen gewesen. Ge gen 10 Uhr wimmelte der große Saal mit Masken aller Art; Natür lich waren die Phantasiemaskcn am zahlreichsten vertreten, aber es herrschte auch kein Mangel an Charakter- und komischen Masken. Das Fest verlief ohne jedwede Störung, und das will bei dem herrschenden Geivirre etwas heißen, aber das Hauskomitee bestand darauf, daß mich bei dem Maskenball die Regeln des Deutschen Hailscs befolgt wur den. Den ersten Gruppenpreis, $15, er. hielten die Hulamädchen, dargestellt von Mitgliedern des Damen Kegel klubs: den 2., $12, erhielt die den Frieden zwischen Deutschlaild und Amerika darstellende Gruppe, und der 3. Preis wurde zwei Deutschen und zwei Schweden zugesprochen. Den ersten Preis für die beste Charaktermaske erhielt Herr Paul Groß, JManer; den 1. Damen preis Frau F. Snyder; den 2. Her ren, und Tamenpreis erhielten Washington und Lady Washington (Herr L. A. Hanson und Frl. Anna Manning), der 3. Herrenpreis wur de Herrn Max Malchin (Holländer) und Frau Chritchfield zugesprochen. Den Preis für die komischste Maske erhielten Frau Kutchcr und Herr Konrad Kauth. Briefkasten. Zur Wahrung des Friedens. Pastor G. Wullfchläger, Seneca, Kans. Ihren Vorschlag hat die Tribüne ja bereits seit einer Woche ausgeführt, indem Sie Vorlagen für Friedensbriefe' an die Bnndessena toren und Kongreßleute abdruckte und ihre Leser ersuchte, diesen ihren Volksvertretern zu schreiben, den Frieden zu wahren. Wer von den Lesern dies noch nicht getan, sollte es sofort nachholen. Heute erscheint wieder eine Pctitionsvorlage in der Tribüne. Man benutze sie. Ihnen aber, Herr Pastor, sowie allen Predigern und Priestern, ist zu empfehlen, im Namen Ihrer Ge mcinden an die Volksvertreter im Kongreß zu schreiben, den Frieden zu wahren. ; ! 1 Schwester feiert Ordensjubilaum. Chas Rosewater verläßt die Bee". Charles C. R'osewater, der Geiie-ral-Geschäftsleiter der Omaha Bee" hat seineir Geschäftsanteil 'in dieser Zeitung an seinen Bruder Victor verkauft, der damit den konttollie rendcn Anteil erhäll. Charles Rose water verlegt feinen Wohnsitz nach Los Angeles, wo er die Geschäfts leiwng des Los Angeles Expreß und Tribune übernehmen wird. Am Scharlach gestorben. Frl. Susie Fesler, die 21jährige Nichte des Stadtratsmitgliedes Ku gel, ist Freitag in ihrem Heim in Sutton am Scharlach gestorben. Die junge Dame hatte sich die Krankheit bei der Pflege ihres Bruders ange zogen, der am Scharlach erkrankt war. Sie war nur wenige Tage krank. Fastcnhirtenbricf des Erzbischofs.
