Bryan, thrice candidate of tho democratic party for president, wont to speak at a meet ing in favor of the League of Nations at Washington, on September 24, he found it necessary to make not only his set speech, but two additional ones to overflow crowds of enthusias tic supporters of tho covenant and the treaty. On the platform with the great commoner was Secretary of War Baker. When asked to go out and address an "overflow", gathering, Mr. Baker declined, "as I have not yet heard Mr. Bryan." The great com moner later addressed the crowd out side. In the audience which heard Mr. Bryan were several senators and Secretary of tho Navy Daniels. It is a noticeable fact that it was after the Bryan address that Senator Ashurst, of Arizona, who had previously been counted on the list of treaty oppo nents, announced his determination to support the treaty and the covc- inant. The Arizona senator was in tho audience which heard Mr. Bryan. Special A limited number of Vacuum Sweepers at a bargain price. See offer below.
