Mr. Bryan in South America
From tho Buenos Aires paper:
In response to the urgent request of
a number of the most distinguished
citizens of this country, Mr. W. J.
Bryan will deliver another lecture in
Buenos Aires and,- this time, on a
secular subject.
Yesterday the-'following document
was sent to Mr. Bryan, of which we
give the translation:
"The undersigned, having followed
with great interest the conferences
given in this capital by the eminent
citizen of tho United States of Amer
ica, the Hon. William Jennings
Grip Pains
It would bo utterly Impossible to
imagine anything: more distressing:
than .La- Grippe pains. They are simply
indescribable, and seem to be composed
of all tho misery sensations known.
Yot thoy can be relieved, and in a
very short timo by taking:
Dr. Miles' Anti-Pain Pills
the greatest remedy on earth for pains
of any kind. Their soothing: influence
upon the nerves is felt throughout th6
entire system.
"I had La Grippe pains all over me,
and I was in such distress I thought
I could not endure It. I thought of
Dr. Miles' Anti-Pain Pills, and after
taking: three doses the pain disap-
S eared, and I slept peacefully. My
rother has a .swelling on his neck,
and uses them, as they ease the pain
and leave no bad effects like quieting
powders."
ADELIA LANE, Portage, Mich.
If they fail to help, your druggist
will refund your money on first pack
age.

The distinguished speaker at once
gave his consent and has selected to
morrow evening, although he is leav
ing the same night for Montevideo.
The lecture, which will foe given at
Prince George's hall, will commence
at 8:45 sharp and the subject will
be "The Signs of the Times."
Tickets for tho Same will be on
sale from 12:30 this afternoon at
Mitchell's bookstore, Cangallo 680;
Robt. Grant's, Cangallo 540; and
John Grant's, Cangallo 469,
The committee of management
have succeeded in securing the ser
vices of Dr. Charles W. Drees as in
trepeter of the lecture. Dr. Drees'
exceptional skill in that direction is
too well known to the English speak
ing community of Buenos Aires to
need any comment.
! It may be mentioned that, after
deduction of bare expenses, tho
whole of the, proceeds from the lec
ture will be devoted to charities.
With regard to a few complaints
that were said to have been made by
one or two who had some difficulty
in finding seats on Monday evening,
it should be borne in mind that
Prince George's hall, that night, held
in all probability the largest au
dience in its history. On Monday
afternoon, when the enormous sale
of seats became manifest, 250 extra
chairs were ordered and distributed
through the hall. Yoeman work was
performed by the secretaries of the
Y. M. C. A. and their lieutenants,
and it is due to their efforts that
the terrific strain upon the capacity
of the hall was scarcely noticeable,
beyond the fact that the audience
was a very big one and eager to see
and hear.
With a view to affording Mr.
Bryan an opportunity of studying the
country, between Buenos Aires and
Campana, and to visit the Frigori
ficos at the latter place, the Central
Argentine railway placed a special
coach to the train leaving Retiro at
8 a. m. yesterday. Mr. Bryan, who
was accompanied by Mr. Ernest Nel
son, had a most pleasant jdurney and
on returning to the city at 4 p. m. ex
pressed his great admiration for the
up-to-date methods employed at the
meat works, and fine appearance of
the country en route.
This morning Dr. Victorino de la
Plaza, minister of foreign affairs,
will, give a breakfast at the Jockey
club in honor of Mr. Bryan.
The Hon. Charles Sherrill, the
American minister, will hold a re
ception this afternoon from 5 to 7
o'clock at the legation, G36 Calle
Charcas in honor of Mr. Bryan.
Tomorrow, introduced by Mr.
Sherrill, Mr. Bryan will be present
ed to the president of the republic,
Dr. Figueroa Alcorta.
