the elevation and transfer of grain

power of the commission.' " Refer
ring to the Kansas City decision, the
Omaha World-Herald prints the fol
lowing: "News of the decision was
hailed gladly by several members of
the Omaha grain exchange. They
agreed that it was a good thing for
the Omaha grain market. As to how
great a thing it was they differed.
One company said: 'It means that
the Omaha grain market will be
maintained. If it had gone the other
way the market could not have been
kept up except in a comparatively
small way. The interstate commis
sion at first allowed 1 cents eleva
tion charges, then three-quarters of
1 per cent per 100 pounds, and then
none at all. The date to stop allow
ing has been extended from time to
time to enable the court to look into
it and reach a decision.' Another
large grain company said: 'The best
thing about it to our minds is that it
establishes the Peavey contracts as if
it were a contract with an individual
instead of a corporation. The deci-

Science has proven Calcium Sul
phide to be the most powerful blood
purifier known. Stuart's process of
giving the system this great cleaner
for the blood, has been called the
best, for preserving the full strength
of Calcium Sulphide.
Calcium Sulphide is not a poison.
It is harmless, though greatly pow
erful. Children may take it with freedom
and their delicate organisms thrive
with its use.
Skin diseases flee when the blood
Is charged with this great eradicator.
The blood at once feels its influ
ence and eruptions cease and fade
away almost beyond belief, so imme
diate is its action.
No matter what degree of eruptive
skin trouble you may have, Stuart's
Calcium Wafers will purify and en
rich the blood. These little wafers
go into the stomach just like the
skin impurities get in. They tone
up this organ, enter the Intestines,
are absorbed by the lacteals and
lymphatics, are drawn into the blood,
course quickly to every organ and
atom of the body, and remove secre
tions and decay. The lungs are as
sisted, the liver is aided, the stom
ach re-inforced, and skin diseases are
assailed from their source. All re
treat, for disease is cut off from the
rear, and very quickly nature routs
the effects of such maladies which
appear In the form of pimples, erup
tions, blackheads and scaly forma
tions. You have science backed up by
years of actual proof when you take
a Stuart Calcium Wafer. Not a mere
feeble effort at relief, but a remedy
of nature that has relieved human
subjects greater in number by far
than the entire army of America and
Canada. For chronic or temporary
blood disorders and skin diseases
these wafers are without an equal.
If you will go to your druggist
and ask him the virtue of Calcium
Sulphide his answer will confirm
these statements.
Stuart's Calcium Wafers, he will
also say, are the most popular and
scientific method of using this won
derful Ingredient. They sell for 50c

The Aldrich bill providing for a
commission of senators, representa
tives and civil appointees to be se
lected by the president to supervise
the business methods of the execu
tive departments was passed by the
senate practically without opposition.
Senator Newlands vainly sought to
have the bill amended so as to autho
rize the appointment by the president
of a co-ordinate commission to rep
resent legislative and executive de
partments. He conceded that as the
purpose was to be the reform of the
departments the executive branch of
the government should be represent
ed. Senator Aldrich stated that he
felt authorized to say that the presi
dent would co-operate heartily with
the proposed commission.
A bill framed because of the sit
uation arising from the Indictment
in New Jersey of members of the al
leged "beef trust" was introduced in
congress by Representative Henry of
Texas. It provides that the demand
of the executive authority of a state,
accompanied by a copy of the indict
ment, or an affidavit, shall be indis
putable proof on which the authori
ties of another state must act and
that no court of a state or territory
to which the fugitive has fled shall
ignore such demand. "My amend
ment plainly means," said Mr. Henry,
"that although those individuals com
posing the 'beef, trust' in Chicago
have not been actually present in
New Jersey, they have caused the ex
ecution of their conspiracies on New
Jersey soil."
A Washington dispatch carried by
the Associated Press says: "Senator
Jeff Davis of Arkansas, failed today
in an effort to have stricken from
the records of the house committee
on public lands a statement which
he made before the committee sev
eral days ago when he appeared there
in advocacy of a bill introduced by
Representative Oldfield of Arkansas,
quieting title of about 100,000 acres
of swamp lands in the eastern part
of Arkansas, known as 'sunk lands.'
Senator Davis statement was to the
effect that he was to receive a fee
for his services as attorney for the
Saint Francis levee board in connec
tion with the lands. In correcting
his testimony Senator Davis struck
out the words 'because there is a
good fee if I can recover the price
of that timber,' and substituting for
them the following: 'Because I am
the attorney for the Saint Francis
levee board for the recovery of this
timber.' Senator Davis asserted be
fore the committee he had not used
the words attributed to him, but sev
eral members of the committee dis
agreed with him and declared that
he did make the statement. Follow
ing the senator's appearance before
the committee today, the committee
held an extended executive session
and finally voted, practically unani
mously, not to allow Senator Davis
to make the change desired. It was
held that no one had a right to
change the records of the committee
further than to make necessary
changes in verbiage."
Senator Galllnger of New Hamp
shire has Introduced in the senate a
bill making it a misdemeanor for any
one to be drunk in the District of
Columbia. The bill provides for a
fine of $100 or imprisonment for two
years in a home for Inebriates.
The senate passed a bill authoriz
ing the expenditure of $10,000,000
for the purchase of land south of
Pennsylvania avenue, Washington,

There was no opposition.

years for the murder in the District
