It was more nearly a-alemocratlc victory in Ohio than elsewhere, for in Ohio the democratic party, under the lead of Tom Johnson, stands for the Bryan brand of democracy municipal own ership of public utilities and the rule of the people. Turning from the bossism of Cox and the servility of Senator Foraker to the railroads, the independent republican voters of Ohio found a pleasant atmosnhere in the democratic wigwam.
