| Social Briefs* Mr. and Mrs. Edward G. Craft returned recently from a trip to the Kentucky Derby. The two week trip took them to a num ber of eastern cities and into Canada. Away from Lincoln for the past month were Mr. and Mrs. Clayton P. Lewis. After spending two weeks at the General Conference of the AME Church in Chicago, their motor trip extended to New York City and other points en route. The Rev. J. B. Brooks, also in attendance at the conference in Chicago arrived home on Wednes day. Dinner guests of Rev. and Mrs. M. L. Shakespeare on Tuesday were Mrs. Kathryn Lytle of St. Louis, Mo., a former board mem ber of the Lincoln Urban League,! and Lynnwood Parker, executive secretary of the Urban League. Other guests of the Shakespeare’s on Friday, were the Rev. and Mrs. R. J. Paul of San Francisco,1 Calif., and Mrs. Ann E. Davis of Colorado Springs, Colo. Mrs. Davis, wife of the Rev. H. M. 1 Davis, presiding elder of the Colo-, rado Conference of the AME< Church, is an accomplished pianist 1 and concert singer. Mrs. Davis 1 ! and the Pauls were enroute home after attending the General Con ference in Chicago. The Ministers Wives Council will be held Thursday with Mrs. J. B. Brooks as hostess. The president, Mrs. Sarah A. Mon roe, wife of the Rev. William I. Monroe, will be present and pre side at the 1 o’clock luncheon after an absence of several months during which time she visited in California. Mrs. Charles Williams, wife of ‘.he Rev. Charles Williams, has returned from New York City where she attended the National Women’s Missionary Society of the Church of God. Other repre sentatives returning were her sister, Mrs. Mae Will Ghappel and Mrs. Basalia Bell. Mrs. Corena Williams was re ported much improved at St. Elizabeth hospital. A lovely Mother’s Day banquet given at the Urban League hon oring Mothers Friday evening was sponsored by the Calendar Club, of which Mrs. R. G. Huston is president. As Mistress of cere monies, Miss Frances Lewis in troduced Mrs. Bettey Woods who extended a welcome to Mothers. Eugene Edwards. Mrs. Williams, well known here as Josephine Watts, is the sister of Mrs. Edwards. She is employed as Medical Technologist at Colum bia Presbyterian Medical Center | Hospital in New York City, N. Y. the largest hospital of it’s kind. Mr. Williams now entering his ninth year as policeman of Hack ensack, also works in the Bureau of Criminology and Detective Bureau. The Williams were honored with coffee at the beautiful home of Mr. and Mrs. M. Copeland Fri day at 11 a.m. They were also the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt Wil-' liams at a 6 p.m. dinner at the' Urban League Friday evening. They spent Saturday in Omaha1 visiting relatives and left for1 home Sunday night. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. i Edwards on Sunday was Mrs. Ed-1 wards brother, U. S.
