Equality For
All Citizens
Robert S. Kerr, U.S. Senator
from Oklahoma states his record
as governor of Oklahoma on
equality for all citizens as follows:
He appointed Negroes to high
positions in the Educational,
Medical and Welfare Departments.
When he was elected to the
United States Senate he had the
aggressive support of Negro
leaders. In the Senate election,
Kerr carried precincts in Negro
districts by majorities of 3 to 1
and 4 to 1.
He used the full power of his
office to give equal rights and
opportunities to all citizens, re
gardless of race, creed or color.
He materially increased the
number of Negroes holding execu
tive positions in Oklahoma’s State
Government.

photography, ceramics and danc

some 88 paintings, drawings,
water-colors and ceramic pieces.
A young Negro teacher, Miss
Gwendolyn Lennen, was among
the exhibitors.
Colored persons who have
studied at the art center include |

leigh, is a Negro artist. He said
that Negroes participated in the!
activities of the center in about;
the proportion which they are of
the population. There are 3,000
colored persons out of 12,000 citi
zens in Princeton.
Group Arts was started in 1946
by a handful of Princeton busi
ness and professional friends who
they wanted to find a cen
ter where all races and economic
levels could work together.
