P Social Briefs } By Doitt(b) Grren f The Quinn Chapel Senior Choir sponsored a “Trip Around The World” Wednesday August 1st. The trip included six stops which are as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Botts, Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Conrad, Mr. and Mrs. James Wil son and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Botts. At the last stop home made ice cream, pop and hot dogs were sold. A good time was had by all. * * Miss Freddie Powell, daughter, of the Rev. and Mrs. R. H. Powell j left Sunday after spending her final week of summer vacation with her parents. * * * The Rev. and Mrs. J. B. Brooks and family have returned after spending several weeks in Cali fornia visiting friends and rela tives. Betty and Hazel Wilson daugh ters of Mr. and Mrs. James Wil son left Saturday to visit friends and relative in Colorado. * * * Mr. Joseph Green was admitted to Lincoln General Hospital Fri day to have an operation. He is in room 302. « * * Mr. Maurice Russell has re turned after spending six weeks at Camp McCoy, Wis. * * * Stopping at the home of the Rev. and Mrs. J. B. Brooks Sun day was Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Mitchum, Flint, Mich., Mr. Elbert Mitchum, Mr. Jewell Mitchum and Mr.Raweigh Mitchum all of Morrilson, Ark. Add meat; season. Form in 4 large patties. Brown on both sides in fat or oil. Add remaining ingre dients. Cover; cook 10 minutes. Serves 4. Veal Salad Loaf (Served cold.) 1 package lemon flavoring gelatin mixture 1 2/3 cups boiling water 1 teaspoon chopped onion 1 tablespoon chopped pimiento 1 tablespoon chopped green pepper 2/3 teaspoon salt 1 /3 teaspoon paprika *i* cup diced celery 2 cups chopped cooked veal Pour water over gelatin mix ture, stir until dissolved. Cool, allow to thicken a little. Add rest of ingredients, pour into glass mold. Chill until stiff. Blackberry Roll. Make the required amount of baking powder biscuit dough and rcll out one-half inch thick. Spread with melted butter and strew one-half of the blackberries on top; cover with one-half cup j sugar; fold dough over on the j sides and then roll as for a jelly roll. Put in a large well greased pan surrounded with the rest of tr.e berries and one-half cup su gar. Bake in a hot oven twenty to twenty-five minutes. Cut in slices and serve with the sauce in the pan. Combination Vegetable Salad. (Excellent For Spring Serving) 1 cup diced asparagus 2-3 cup sliced beets ’i cup c'lopped celery V<. cup diced cooked carro.s Vi teaspoon salt Vi teaspoor. paprika ! lteaspoon finely chopped onion I tablespoon chop'Xl sweet pickle Vi cup salad dressing Lightly combine all ingredients which have been chilled. Serve on lettuce. Chocolate Fudge 1 tablespoon butter 2 cups sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup milk V* cup nuts 2 suuars chocolate Mix sugar, milk, chocolate and butter. Boil gently, stirring fre quently until soft ball forms when portion is tested in cup of cold water. Remove from stove and let stand 20 minutes. Add va nilla and beat until thick and creamy.
