The Quinn Chapel Senior Choir
sponsored a “Trip Around The
World” Wednesday August 1st.
The trip included six stops which
are as follows: Mr. and Mrs.
Virgil Botts, Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt
Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton
Conrad, Mr. and Mrs. James Wil
son and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond
Botts. At the last stop home
made ice cream, pop and hot dogs
were sold. A good time was had
by all.

brown bomber, is having his
troubles.

! rugged Argentine fighter, Louis
| expressed keen disappointment

pion Jersey Joe Walcott and de
throned champion Ezzard have
I agreed to postpone their rematch
j fight until next year.
The former champion said he
had not given up hope of regain
ing the crown. He added;
“As long as Walcott or Charles
has it, we still have hope.”
The 12,000 persons who saw last
week’s fight between Louis and
j Brion gave the two a fine hand
after the slugfest.
From the opening bell to the
seventh, the tough Argentinian
carried the fight to Louis, and
was ahead on points for five
rounds. But from the seventh on
it was Louis all the way.
In the seventh Louis battered
j Brion with lefts and rights to
the head, and drove in body blows
that had Brion groggy. He
pounded him silly in the last three
rounds, but was unable to bring
across a knockout punch.
At the end of the fight, Brion’s
face was cut and he was bleed
ing on the side of each eye.
Louis won by a unanimous de
cision. It was his seventh wis in
his comeback campaign since he
lost to Charles.

Bunche Proposed
As Ambassador
WASHINGTON — (ANP) — A;
movement to have Dr. Ralph J.
Bunche, 47-year-old director of
the U.N. Trusteeship division,
named ambassador to Moscow,
has been launched on Capitol
hill, and according to its chief
sponsor, Sen. Blair Moody (D.,
Mich.), it is receiving “excellent”
reception from the White House
and the state department.
Dr. Bunche is being boomed as 1
a successor to Adm. Alan G. Kirk,
who is retiring from the post. The
suggestion of Dr. Bunche’s name
was made by the Detroit News.
Said Sen. Moody, “The im
mediate reaction was that, be
cause of his past anii-Communist
and anti-Russian statements, Rus
sia might well declare Dr. Bunche
persona non grata as an ambas
sador and that such possible
action would be a factor favoring,
rather than hindering his appoint
ment. (It) . . . would certainly be
a living refutation to the whole
Communist propaganda line in
Asia that America grinds down
people of colored races.
Awards 63 Degrees

Egg Souffle
\ tablespoons butter
•4 tablespoons, flour
It* cups milk
*4 teaspoon salt
*4 teaspoon celery salt
'4 teaspon paprika
teaspon chopped onion
4 eB* yolks
4 egg whites beaten
Melt butter. Add flour. When
mixed add milk and seasonings.
Cook until thick sauce forms, stir
Jconstantly. Add yolks and beat

pour into buttered baking dish or

slow oven. Let stand five minutes

Barbecued Patties
Vc cup soft crumbs
| *4 cup milk
*-l> pound chopped bottom round
2 tablespoons melted fat or salad oil
Salt and pepper
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon vinegar
2 tablespoons sugar
Vi cup ketchup
1 onion, chopped
Moisten crumbs with milk. Add
meat; season. Form in 4 large
patties. Brown on both sides in
fat or oil. Add remaining ingre
dients. Cover; cook 10 minutes.
Serves 4.
Veal Salad Loaf
(Served cold.)
1 package lemon flavoring gelatin mixture
1 2/3 cups boiling water
1 teaspoon chopped onion
1 tablespoon chopped pimiento
1 tablespoon chopped green pepper
2/3 teaspoon salt
1 /3 teaspoon paprika
*i* cup diced celery
2 cups chopped cooked veal
Pour water over gelatin mix
ture, stir until dissolved. Cool,
allow to thicken a little. Add rest
of ingredients, pour into glass
mold. Chill until stiff.
Blackberry Roll.
Make the required amount of
baking powder biscuit dough and
rcll out one-half inch thick.
Spread with melted butter and
strew one-half of the blackberries
on top; cover with one-half cup
j sugar; fold dough over on the
j sides and then roll as for a jelly
roll. Put in a large well greased
pan surrounded with the rest of
tr.e berries and one-half cup su
gar. Bake in a hot oven twenty
to twenty-five minutes. Cut in
slices and serve with the sauce
in the pan.
Combination Vegetable Salad.
(Excellent For Spring Serving)
1 cup diced asparagus
2-3 cup sliced beets
’i cup c'lopped celery
V<. cup diced cooked carro.s
Vi teaspoon salt
Vi teaspoor. paprika
! lteaspoon finely chopped onion
I tablespoon chop'Xl sweet pickle
Vi cup salad dressing
Lightly combine all ingredients
which have been chilled. Serve
on lettuce.
Chocolate Fudge
1 tablespoon butter 2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup milk
V* cup nuts 2 suuars chocolate
Mix sugar, milk, chocolate and
butter. Boil gently, stirring fre
quently until soft ball forms
when portion is tested in cup of
cold water. Remove from stove
and let stand 20 minutes. Add va
nilla and beat until thick and
creamy. Add nuts. Pour onto but
tered pan. When firm cut into
squares.
