Johnson, Robbie Powell and Marie Collins motored to Hastings for services at Hamilton Chapel Sunday eve ning. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Botts and daughter Jo Ann motored to Glenwood, Iowa, last Sunday morning, returning by way of Council Bluffs, Iowa where they joined other Lincolnites f$r a pic nic at Playland Park in Omaha. The speaker for the first meeting was Mrs. Alice L. Goddard, director of children’s work of the International Council of Religious Education. Colbert Chester Scott is one of the Ne brask freshmen who is doing outstanding work in the field t>f sports. Scott has done quite a bit in track since he matriculated at the university. He ran for the Presbyterian House in the intra mural track meet, doing two laps of the 60 yard dash. Studying pharmacy at the uni versity, Scott is interested in both medicine and the ministry. His athletic inclinations go back to his high school days at Omaha Central high school of Omaha, Neb. There he was active in bas ketball and track. Saturday, April 22nd, was the night that Lincoln high school closed its showing of Joy Night which had been showing for three nights. Several teens par ticipated in Joy Night. They were: Arnold Tarpley and Julian Ridings in Boys Glee; Vonny Fin ley sang a solo, “My Foolish Heart” and “Make Believe;” Winifred Jones and myself sang in Girls Glee. It really went off good.**’"'‘Several teens were pic nicking in Pioneers park Sun day, among them being Betty Bowman, Hazel Wilson, Loretta McWilliams, Thelma Martin. Ralph Wilson, Robert Ham monds, James Ware, Bill Whit mon and Maurice Russell. They all reported having a nice time. ****Monday, April 24th at a show at Vets hospital Vonna Fin ley and myself sang a couple of solos. Vonna sang ‘‘My Foolish Heart” and “Embraceable You” and I sang “It Isn’t Fair” and “There’s No Tomorrow'.” The whole show turned out great. ♦♦♦■"Old L. H. S. sponsored a party at the Antelope pavilion. Refreshments were cokes, ice cream bars and candy. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Those seen there were Cecil Hatcher. Chill. Whip evapo rated milk ''f which has been thor oughly chilled in refrigerator) with rotary beater, add lemon juice, and beat one moment. BROWNIES. 54 cup butter or Spry 2 eggs 1 cup sugar cup flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 6 tablespoons cocoa V4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup chopped walnut meats Melt butter. Beat eggs and add sugar, then other dry ingredients. Add butter, extract and nut meats. Combine thoroughly and bake in shallow pan in moderately slow oven (325°) 20 to 30 minutes.
