Lesson
THE POWER OF THE RESl'R,
RECTION.
Easter Lesson.
Scripture—I Corinthians 15;
Luke 24:1-12.
Memory Selection—But thanks
be to God, which giveth us the
victory through our Lord Jesus
Christ.
The Lesson in its Present-Day
Application—Down to Date.
By Frederick D. Jordan.
Today's lesson brings to us the
reason for rejoicing given Chris
tians. It gives us our assurance,
our confidence of triumph and
of future reward. It makes us
steadfast and unmovable in our
Christian experience, it makes us
diligent in the work of the Lord.
Because of His Resurrection, we
are concerned about the develop
ment of character, we are aware
of the advantages of self-disci
pline and of self-sacrifice. Life
has new meaning for us, we can
“play the game” knowing that
we will win if we abide by the
rules. There is no place for gloom
or for sadness, no chance to lose,
to see others pass us by with
the coveted prize. It is ours too.
Christ gave us a double victory—
victory over sin and over death.
We can look forward to a mean
ingful life, one of individual vic
tory and happiness, and also even
greater happiness when finished
with the experiences of this
world. We need not dread grow
ing old, for we are but drawing
nearer His glorious presence.
Sunday April 16, at 5:30 p. m. at
the Zion Bapitist church. The in
stitute is designed to advise young
people along vocational lines.

The Making of Friends
If nobody umileil and nobody cheered and
nobody helped us along;
If each, every minute, looked after him
self and the good things all went
to the atrong;
If nobody cared Just a little for you, and
nobody thought about me,
And we stood all alone to the battle of
life, what a dreary old world It
would be!
Life is just sweet becnuse of the friends
we have made and the things which
in common we share;
We w'ant to live on, not because of
ourselves, but because of the people
who care.
It's giving and doing for somebody else
on that all life's aplendor depends.
And the Joy of the world, when you’ve
summed It all up. is found in the
making of friends,
—Edgar A. Guest.
Spare Me From Getting
“the Blues”
Lord God, teach me the mean
ing of this strange mixture of
many moods that I have learned
to call myself. I come to thee now
with the age-old petition—save
me from discouragement and de
pression.
Save me from making my dis
couraged self my true self. Show
me in its stead the joyous and
effective person that thou hast in
tended me to be. And let this
larger and richer self thrill and
allure me and remake me slowly
into the pattern of thy will.
O God, I give thee my thanks
for those few people who grasp
their very troubles so as to wring
blessing and power and new
achievement from them. Open my
heart to receive now, my Lord,
their larger wisdom.
And when “the blues” lay me
low, grant me the courage, my
Father, to go forward with the
work that has to be done and the
good cheer that must be shed on a
needy world.
God will not ask thy race,
Nor will He ask thy birth;
Alone He will demand of thee
What thou hast done on earth.
