Les Kliques again proved themselves to be charming hostesses when they gave their second annual formal lawn party Monday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Dean. Social Briefs All eyes the past week seemed to have been focused on charm ing former Lincolnite, Mrs. Amer ica Marshall who is now making her home in New York City. Monday evening Mrs. Odessa Johnson, served dinner in honor of Mrs. Marshall and Mrs. Mary Burden Davis of Pasadena, Calif., Tuesday morning, Mrs. Jennie R. Edwards had breakfast for eight members of the “gang” of which Mrs. Marshall was formerly asso ciated. Mrs. Marie Copeland was hostess at a 11 o’clook brunch on Wednesday honoring Mrs. Mar shall. Washington and her daughter, Donna Marie of Beatrice, were shopping in Lin coln on Tuesday. * * * Former Lincoln Girl h Radium Technician Mrs. Josephine Olive Williams will be graduated this week from the Hagensack City hospital, Hag ensack, N. J., as the only Negro radium technician to be gradu ated from the school. Mrs. Wil liams is the former Josephine Watts of this City and a sister to Mrs. Jennie R. Edwards. * * * Mrs. Walter Bell, sr., attended the Iowa state conference of branches of the NAACP held at Sioux City, la., last week end as guest of Dr. and Mrs. E. A. Road man of Morning Side College. I for got to mention the fact that Betty and Melvin were present. * * * Miss Stella Marie Woodlee, of Alliance, is making quite a name for herself in the All State Music meeting. She took several solo parts in the concert last week. We are sorry that she will be return ing home Friday, but we sincerely hope that she will be able to re turn again soon. * * * The Klique Klub Formal was centainly a real gone affair even though it did rain. Some of the interesting couples attending were: Romona Smith and Verne Wilson, Elois Finley and Pittman Foxall, and Jeanne Burns and Frank King. * * * Saturday night Hazel Wilson was honored with a Surprise graduation party given by Betty Wilson, Betty Bowman and Lo retta McWilliams. Refreshments served were ice cream and cake. Many guests were invited. After the party it took five girls to escort Melvin Craft to the station, they were Betty Bowman, Betty and Hazel Wilson, Loretta McWilliams and Tony Smith. They benefitted by this little journey because they met eleven R. O. T. C. fellows on their way to Denver to receive their second lieutenant bars. They are sup posed to stop in Lincoln on their return trip. Among couples attending the K. K. formal party were Freddie Powell and the fine Charles Self, St. Joe and Betty Wilson and the real cool Robert Taylor. In case you girls didn’t notice Charles has some fine eyes. Hasn’t he, Freddie. * * * Maxine Stitch has returned to our city from Chicago to spend the summer with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Stith. We are glad to see you again! * * * Our swimming pool attracts quite a few visitors from Omaha. Among the many swimmers Sun day afternoon were Charles and Nate Russ and Pittman Foxall. * * * Say Boys congratulations on the very nice way you reacted to the article in last week’s paper for Boys Only, all of your dates were wearing lovely flowers. * * * Don’t forget the Union services.
