Brady, principal of Elwood grade school. & * * Alpha Chi Gets 1st Negro Dennis Brown, senior sociology student at American Interna tional College, Springfield, Mass., was initiated last week into Al pha Chi, national honor society. Mr. Brown, the first Negro to be initiated into the group is the husband of the former Leona Lilly. Mrs. Walterette Young is visit ing her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Brown of De troit, Mich. Negro Achieves Highest Grades of All American Students at Zurich Uni. NEW YORK. (ANP). — Roy Eaton, a City College senior studying at the University of Zurich on a scholarship, achieved the highest grades of all Ameri can students there, it was an nounced last week. Eaton. 18, who formerly lived here at 373 Edgecombe avenue, was awarded City College’s an nual Aaron Naumberg scholar ship last year. The award pro vided $2,000 for a full year’s study at the University of Zurich. It was granted to Eaton on the basis of character and excellence in scholastic work. Louis to Be Honored at Scene of First Pro Fight CHICAGO. HOUSEHOLD HINTS :! j By Mrs. Brevy Millet Phone 2-4051 Ham and Egg Shortcake Biscuit dough foi 12 biscuits x One can cream of mushroom soup V6 cup milk *4 cup diced cooked ham Vi diced pimiento (optionali 3 hard-cooked eggs Heat oven to 450° F (hot). Roll biscuit dough; cut with 2-inch cutter. Place on baking sheet; bake about 15 minutes or until done. Put soup in saucepan; stir until smooth. Add milk slowly, stirring constantly; heat. Quarter the eggs; add ham, eggs, pimiento. Simmer a few minutes. Split biscuits and pour about 2/a of creamed ham and eggs over bottom layer. Replace tops and pour on remainder. Make six servings. ■> Double Strawberry Shortcake (Serves 8) 1 pie crust (you^ regular recipe) 2 pints strawberry ice cream (brick style) t cup whipped cream 4 tbsp. granulated sugar, V4 tsp. vanila. 2 cups sliced, sweetened strawberries. 1. Prepare pie crust as usual and roll out very thin. 2. Cut with pastry wheel into 16 squares or oblongs, about inch larger than ice cream slices. 3. Prick thoroughly tines of fork and bake in a hot oven (450° F) about 10 minutes. Cool. 4. Best cream until it begins to thicken. Add sugar gradually. Continue beating so cream holds shape. Add vanilla. 5.
