Social Briefs By Helen L. Adams—5-7508 Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hall, 2146 S street left Monday for Kansds City, Mo., where Mr. Hall will take up shoe repair under G. I. training, after which Mr. and Mrs. Hall plan to make their home in Denver, Colo. The Halls have been residents in the city for the past several years, during which time Mrs. Hall was active in church and social activities. A going away gift was presented her at the- last meeting of the U. C. W. Kensington Club. * * * Mrs. Jewell R. Kelley, sr. has returned home after spending several weeks visiting with her daughter, Barbra, who is a mu sic teacher in the public schools of Venita, Okl. Mrs. Kelley at tended the Oklahoma State Teach ers Convention * which met in Tulsa. During her stay she had a delightful visit with Mts. Cleo Ross Meeker. Mrs. Meeker, a graduate of the University of Ne braska, has recently moved into a new home. * * * Miss Charlene Jane May has returned to Lincoln after spend ing some time with her mother and grandmother in Falls City, Neb. Miss May is a graduate student at the University of Ne braska. * * * Mrs. Jean Stevens has returned after spending some time with her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Washington of Slater, Mo. Mr. Washington, who has been ill, is reported much improved. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Nance are the proud parents of a baby girl, Sheila Marlene, born March 10, 1949 at St. Elizabeth’s hospi tal. Mrs. Nance is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. McKinley Tarp ley, sr. # * * The Rev. Melvin L. Shakes peare and Charles M. Goolsby, attended a banquet at the Lincoln Hotel Friday evening. The ban quet was part of a three day pro gram scheduled by the Nebraska Press Association’s 75th annual convention. * * * Mrs. James King has returned home after rpending some time with her husband’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. King. Mrs. Deane was the recipient of many lovely gifts. * * * Mrs. Joseph Casmer received word of the death of her sister in-law, who lived in Parsons, Kas. * * * Funeral services were held Sat urday for Mrs. Cora Conrad of Omaha. Mrs. Conrad was the sister to the late Mrs. Pearl Cris man. * * * Mrs. Millie Hutchinson, the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas El liott, was dinner guest of Mrs. Fred Bradley. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Webster Fowler are the proud parents of a baby girl born March 1, 1949. * * * Lebanon Lodge No. 3 A.F.& A.M. (P.H.A.) was well repre sented at the funeral of Thomas Mason held in Nehawka, Neb., on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph W. Adams and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Tapp were among persons attending the funeral from Lincoln. * * •' Saturday night, March 19, the Lincoln Inter-Greeds had a semi formal party at the Urban League building. The lounge was beau tifully decorated with balloons and ribbons in the fraternity and sorority colors. Participating were Lincoln members of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. The decorating was done by Florentine Crawford, Eloise Jones and all the pledges. Delightful canapes were pre pared by the girls and served with fruit punch. Records were selected by Bert Cooke. The committee on arrangements in cluded Mrs. Maude Coggs, Stanley Cooke and Alfred Grice. * * * Mr. and Mrs. L. Henderson were hosts to a group of young people at their home Saturday, March 19.
