If the new British drug, antry

Africa proves successful, the
scourge of sleeping sickness will
be conquered and natives and an
imals will have a freer life. The
major test, on a herd of 84 cattle,
is taking place in a small settle
ment on the main Nairobi-Mom
basa road, an area infested by the
tsetse fly, carrier of the disease.
Here, Dr. D. G. Davey dis
cusses the progress of a test with
R.N.W.T. Fiennes, senior veterin
ary officer of - the British East
African Veterinary organization.

For Lenten Season
Now that the Lent season is
here and we are wondering what
we could serve that would be a
little different try this casserole
dish. I befieve your family will
like them. Please call sometime
and lei me know how you like
them.
Macaroni Escalloped with
Asparagus
1 lb. macaroni
1 bunch asparagus
U cup butter
2 tbsps. flour
1 cup liquid
1 cup top milk
1 tsp. salt
Few grains pepper
ty cup bread crumbs
*4 cup grated cheese
8 slices'bacon
Cook macaroni in boiling water j
one-half hour; drain. Wash and
trim asparagus. Cook in boiling
water until tender; drain reserv
ing one cup of liquid. Make white
sauce of butter, flour, liquid, milk,
and seasonings.
Cut macaroni and asparagus in
small pieces and place in alternate
payers in greased casserole, pour
ing white sauce over each layer.
Cover with crumbs and cheese
mixed together. Bake in 350° F.

Rainbow Fruit Salad.
1 cup pineapple
1 cup green grapes
1 cup orange sections
1 banana
i,3 lb. marshmallows
1 cup whipping cream
1 cup grapefruit sections
1 cup salad dressing
Lettuce or endive
This salad can be made many
ways. Here’s one method. Cut
the slices of pineapple into quar
ters. Cut grapes in half and re
move seeds. Peel and slice banana.
Prepare orange and grapefruit
sections. Cut marshmallows into
fourths. Combine fruits in a mix
ing bowl and place in refrigerator
to chill, not freeze. Whip cream
and add half of it to the salad
dressing you are going to use.
Arrange salad on <;risp lettuce
leaves or endive. Add salad dress
ing; top with whipped cream.
