(Stewardship) Mai. 3:8. •'Will a man rob God?” is the question That cometh to you and me; The spirit of the soul who speaketh Reflects what the answer should be. Thou robbeth, Oh, man, thou robbeth When by refusal thou try’st To render a cause for withholding Thou robbeth in offering and tithes. What answer canst thou give for keeping The things that belong not to thee. For he who holds bac)c from the giver, Robs others, robs self, and robs me. You say you’ll give what you're able; Your giving, then, amounteth to naught; For into your real life and actions The spirit of Christ has not wrought. Isn't all of thy gold and thy silver, Isn’t all land thy feet ever trod, Isn’t even life, the health and strength, Directly the gift of God? One-tenth of thy gold and silver. If thou wouldst be truly blest; One-.seventh of time for service. To enter the Heaven of Rest. Ten-tenths of thy love and devotion, For I am a jealous God; Ten-tenths of thy Holy Worship, To escape the chastening rod. O man, thou’rt born for a purpose. Thy service, thy talent, thy all, Is to be used for the plan of redemption, Hear the voice of Jehovah's great call. Shall I slight the voice of my Saviour? Poor, pitiful, self-seeking elf; Wrapped up in a spiritual deception. And only deceiving myself. Let us hear His sweet voice and obey Him; Let us list to His gentle call; Let us give of our earthly treasures— q Give pervlce, give talent, give all. Sing the song of the light that is breaking. Let the world hear its sweet soothing sound; Let it reach to the heart of all nations. Spread the news of salvation around. Awake, then, to life and duty; Awake, throw all doubting away; Awake to the service of mankind; Awake to the pew call of day. —P. MARTIN CASON. Sunday, School dCeAAon. By Rev. R. E. Handy Subject: The Hope for the Mes siah. Scripture Text: Ezek. 34:23-28, Dan. 7:13,14; Zech. 9:9,10; 12:10; 13:1. Golden Text: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called wonderful, counsellor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.” Isa. 9:6. The Lesson The scriptures of the Old Testa ment are full of references to the coming Messiah. In today’s les son, we have the prophesies of three of the prophets who told of Christ’s coming. There was no need for the Israelites to miss the signs of his appearing. His fam ily was named, the circumstances of His birth, the place in which He would be born. His suffering for atonement, His death and resur rection werf all foretold. Christian people, in the light of the happenings of today, are searching the scripture as never before. Christ, when He went away, promised that He would come again and receive all those who believed in Him unto Him self . . . that where He was, we should be also. He said, “In My Father’s house are many man sions.” He gave signs as to when He should reappear. The second coming of Christ, in the light of prophesy, is rapidly approaching. It behooves every child of God, to search his Bible to see whether these things be true, to “arise, trim their lamps and carry extra oil in their ves sels.” Col. B. O. At its most decisive board meeting Wiley college accepted the resig nation of President E. C. McCleod and fired several faculty mem bers in a general shakeup at the institution. Several other faculty members have resigned, it was revealed after the meeting, and Wiley is seeking a new president. A joint committee, yet to be named, will seek a new site for the combined schools. Both schools are operated by the Methodist church. Wiley is supported by the Texas Confer ence of Negro Methodists and by the white West Texas conference. Dr. J. S. Scott of Wiley will head the merger committee. In announcing its proposal for a merger the board said this is caused by limited funds and the need for a school “which will be more closely related to the church.” Besides Dr. McCleod, Mrs. Sarah Crosby, Mrs. E. Hampton and the Rev. Charles Modiste, head of the department of religion, also re signed from the faculty. Dr. Mc Cleod’s resignation becomes ef fective Sept. 1. He made his an nouncement in person before the board. Wiley will continue to operate as a class “A” college until the merger is completed. Subscribe To Jhe Voice DONLEY STAHL CO.
