Minis Kuya Camp Presentation of award high lighted the 1948 two-day camporee for the Lincoln district Boy Scouts which ended Saturday night at Camp Minis-Kuya. The camporee, conducted to give scouts a chance to display their camping skills. As the groups assembled about the big campfire, awards were given by the Rev. M. M. Kacmarek, general chairman; William Rice, camping activities chairman and Del Pinkerton. Troop 60, made up of Donavan Gatus, Clifford Dunn, William Hutcheson and James Bass scored between 800 and 1,200 points to receive a rating of “C”, from the officials, according to Mr. Joseph W. Adams, scout master. Mrs. Thomas D. Hildreth Expired May 15 Mr. Thomas Dean Hildreth, 35, son of Mrs. Woody Cooper of 1961 “U” Street, died May 15th allegedly of poisoning. Born in Arkadelphia, Ark. Oct. 6, 1913, he grew up in Lincoln where he attended Bancroft and Whit tier schools. Quick Rolls Beat one egg and add % cup of milk that has been scalded and cooled. Crumble and add one cake of yeast and stir until it be comes smooth. Add 2Vfe to 3 cups of good biscuit mix. Stir until a soft dough. Make into rolls and let rise until double in bulk. Bake in 375 degree oven for about 25 minutes. Can be kept in refrigerator and used as wanted. Parnip Fritters Two cups boiled parnips (drain and mash) Add 2 tbls. melted butter. 1 tsp. salt. 1 egg unbeaten. Mix thoroughly and make into cakes about % inch thick and fry in deep fat until golden brown. Epicurean Halibut 1 can condensed tomato soup V4 pound grated Cheddar cheese 1 pound cooked halibut salt and pepper toast triangles Heat soup; add cheese, heat, stirring occasionally until cheese is melted. Flake halibut in Targe pieces, add to tomato mixture, season with salt and pepper and serve on toast. Serves 4. Russiaif Tea V4 cup sugar V4 cup water V4 teaspoon powdered cloves 1 2" stick cinnamon 1 teaspoon grated lemon rind 1 teaspoon grated orange rind Vi cup orange juioe 2 tablespoons . ...on juice V4 cup pineapple Juice 3 cups boiling crater V4 cup tea leaves Combine first six ingredients. Use Bold Qup, (BasucuL LINCOLN BAKING CO. n m ' \ Boil 10 minutes. Remove cinna mon; add juices; keep hot. Pour boiling water over tea. Steep 10 minutes. Strain. Combine mix tures. Serve in tea or punch cups. Makes 6 to 8 servings. Cheese Scrambled Eggs 2 tablespoons fortified margarine . 6 eggs beaten *4 teaspoon salt f % teaspoon pepper % cup milk 1 ’4 3-o*. packages cream cheese Melt margarine in double boiler. Tip it back and forth to cover sides. Combine eggs with salt, pepper, milk. Cook in double boiler, over boiling water, until eggs just begin to set on bottom and sides. Then occa sionally scrape bottom and sides gently with spoon, so liquid por tion flows to bottom. Repeat until eggs are nearly set. Fold in cheese cut in small pieces. Serve at once on toast.
