Letters to The Voice ... I thank you for the extra & copies of “The Voice.” I am sending money along to pa^ for same. “The Voice” is a wonder ful paper, one of which I am in deed proud.. . It is.-a paper that could be and would be an in spiration to any people. I think two dollars a year is a small sum for such a wonderful paper and every thinking Negro in the state of Nebraska should subscribe without the least hesitation... Bert James, Grand Island, Nebr. DEMOCRACY IN EDUCATION I am a student on the city campus and wish to express my appreciation of the fine demo i ratic sprit found in my classes it d on the campus. i am the only colored student in any of my classes and there is a friendly attitude shown me at all times by students and instruc tors. Perhaps, there are preju dices and some snobbery but that ^ is also present within our own small group and I try to forget these few petty grievances and go “half way” toward friendli ness. I also try, to the best of my ability, to watch my personal ap pearance and especially my Eng lish at all times. Our privileges in the Union are, to the best of my knowledge, un limited. Sometimes, I feel that we are slightly inclined to “bunch up” too much. I wonder if when in the Union we couldn’t spread out a little. I notice by the Voice that two of our students were present at a party given at the home of Dean and Mrs. Henzlik. This shows an appreciation of our opportunities. We must train ourselves to be at home with all groups, regardless of age, race, religion or other differences. It isn’t always easy but we must do it if we are to spread this idea of democracy. I am sorry to say that we are not as friendly toward each other as we should be. A friendly “good morning” requires little effort on our part 'and helps to make that morning really “good.” Let’s get together students and have a good time while we are T/ou ^BIG-CAR QUALITY at LOWEST COST ONLY . in the 1QJfJ , CHEVROLET You are cordially in vited to see the new Chevrolet, now on display in our show rooms.
