R. E. Handy Subject:—“The Fall of The Northern Kingdom” Scripture:—2nd Kings, 17— Isaiah 28 Memory Verse—“For the Lord knoweth the way of the right eousness, but the way of the ungodly shall perish” Psalm 1-6 —Present Day Setting— Today America is blessed with peace and prosperity. We are in the unique position of being the most powerful nation on earth. Our agents to make war are feared by the entire world. One would think that with our gold and full granaries that we would be humble, God fearing and thankful and show our gratitude by obedience to God’s laws. But alas, such is not the case: There is a tremendous increase in drunkeness, one out of every three marriages end in the di vorce court. Greed and the wor ship of money rob the poor. Per sonal purity has gone by the board. Every hour there are three murders in this fair land of ours. It is unsafe to drive upon our high-ways, because of drunken drivers at the wheel of the ap proaching car. So we are in the same position as these northern tribes, unless we repent and return to the true worship of God, we will loose our wealth and power. America must wake up or be destroyed. THE DYING CHURCH' A church that is doing nothing lor the public is on its way to the cemetery. All its members that are doing nothing are acting pall bearers. 1 All who are busy with their own affairs that they have not time to devote to the Lord’s Cause; are making the mourning wreath. The brother who says nothing at all is driving the hearse. The ones who are constantly drawing back when advance moves are being made, are throw ing flowers on the grave. The brother who is constantly talking of the hard times in the church is preaching the funeral [sermon; and singing the burial hymns. And thus lies the church buried free from all cares. Brother and Sister which of these acts are you performing? "What would my church be! if every member was just like me? Rev. J. C. Bell, Former Pastor Quinn Chapel A. M. E. So far the weather is delightful—but I am told it will be around 90 to 100 in the shade in Manila and thats too hot. In Manila I have been told to go to St. Augustine’s Church which is very old and very beautiful and I have also been told of a hospi tal with a leper section and that persons may visit. It will be my first time to see lepers and know it. I put it that way because they say lepers walk the streets in Shanghai-Smiles.
