Handy Subject—The Kingdom strength ened and enlarged. Scripture—II Sam. Chaps 5 to 9, 11 to 12. Memory Verse—“David went on and grew great, and the Lord God of Hosts was with him.” II Sam. 5:10. The Lesson, down to date— Last Lord’s day we found the children of Israel in rebellion against the leadership of God, and demanding of God’s prophet a king. Today we find that king chosen, • trying to please both God and I man and failing in each instant So God requires the soul of Saul and a new king named David takes the throne. The people were extremely calm upon learning of the death of Saul; which was as it should be. No man is dispensible. At times when a great leader passes we think surely no one else can take his place, but one will be found who will govern as well or better than the previous leader. Neither Saul nor David were perfect. They both made mis takes as we will presently learn, but Scripture states that David was a man after God’s own heart. Why? Not because he was free from sin, but that when he sinned he confessed and reputed in great humility. We never find him commiting the same sin the sec ond time. Mrs. Effie Mae Osborn Johnson was called to the bedside of her neice, Mrs. Katherine Patterson who is very ill in the General Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn., Friends may send get well cards direct to the hospital. Mrs. John son is asking your prayers with consideration of this verse from James 5:15. “And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.” o n o-o oonnn‘fi(i(io » PAINT IS SCARCE We appreciate your patronage and hope we soon can supply all your requirements VAN SICKLE GLASS fe PAINT CO. 143 So. 10th LOTMAN’S GROCERY 1945 R Street Meats and Vegetables m | RECORDS VICTOR—COLUMBIA DECC A—CAPITOL and others H A Superior Musical Service I Won't You Call Today? ■ Schmoller & Mueller PIANO CO.
