Scripture Text: John 20:21 Memory Verse: “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept.” I Cor. 15:20 —The lesson in its present day application— Through out the world this Easter morning, wherever the gospel of Jesus has penetrated, glad pilgrims traveling to a better land, congregated together to sing happy songs in praises to their risen land. Those who live in mountainous countries went to the high hills to worship at daybreak. On the flat plains they met in parks. An observer who did not know would ask, “why all this excite ment?” But to the born again believers, the unmistakeable evidence pre sented of a resurrection from the dead is so unshakeable, that it is the very foundation of our faith. Different isms and creeds may differ on this point or that tenet but the reservation is held by all to be a certainty. What a wonderful consola tion Jesus has left in the world to solace those who believe in Hina. We must say good bye to loved ones and friends, but “because He lives, we too shall live. We will meet again in the morning, never to part again. Christ the first fruits. As we share His life here, we share His Kingdom on high. Visit Liberia (Continued from page 1) Mrs. Barnett, widley known as Etta Moten, concert, stage and film celebrity, decided to ac company her husband because of her long time interest in Afri can music. She will study it on a comparative basis and is tak ing along a recording machine so as to bring back records of African song and speech. She has received invitations to sing in several of the capitals they will visit. Mr. Barnett expects to observe also, opportunities in Africa for skilled American Negro workers in such trades as carpentry, brick masonry, electricians, etc., and will report what openings there may be for Negro business men with capital to invest. It is pointed out, for example, that 98 per cent of the stores in Liberia are operated by whites, Assyrians Dutch and French and that these operate on a very small basis. Probably the best merchandising is done by the Firestone Trading Company which imports goods from America for the benefit of Firestone native workers on the firm’s rubber plantation. • ROSE MANOR STUDIO 1029 Rose Street Phone 3-2046 Portraits by Appointment George Randol, P.
