Atchison both of Chicago, 111., were recent visi tors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Young. Miss Tillman is a neice of Mr. Young. * * * * Visitors in Lincoln Saturday were Bette Williams, Gloria Smith and Loma Batthe. These three young ladies are from Omaha. Galloway, editor of the Omaha Guide. * * * • Mrs. Elsie Cooper has been confined to her home for the past week with the flu. * * * * Mrs. Lillian Bradley of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church was guest soloist at Morning Star Baptist Church in Omaha Sunday at their regular monthly meeting. * * * * Several ladies motored to Omaha Tuesday night to take . their degrees in the I.B.P.O.E. of m W. They were Mesdames Leona Motley, Ritha Banks and Mattie Botts. They were accompanied by Mrs. Elsie Cooper and Don ald Botts. + * * * Mrs. Ida Mapps of Longview, Texas spent a few days with her son, Grover Gillispie, at the Wm. Beach home. * * * * Among the persons reported affected by the flu epidemic are Mrs. Maude Johnson, Donovan Gettis and Mrs. John Miller. * * * * Mr Olis Young left recently for Chicago for a business trip. C. is establishing his home in the city. * * * * Another visitor in the city re cently was Miss Dorothy Lane of Kansas City. Mo., who was guest of her brother and sister in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Emory. Mrs. R. G. Huston is able to be out again after being confined to her home as a result of illness. At a meeting Tuesday night of the National Association of Post Office Mechanics and Mainten ance Employees held at the Post Office building, Mr. Arthur W. Brehme, head supervisor of the main post office in St. Louis, was the principal speaker. He was accompanied by Mr. John Richardson of Kansas City, Mo., district vice president. They met for the purpose of complet ing plans for the National Con vention which will meet in the city during August. M*;. Brehme particularly com mended Miss Loretta Swanigan for the wonderful work she is doing as a state organizer. Miss Swanigan was appointed last fall. She is the first woman to serve in that capacity. Under the direction of Miss Swanigan assisted b^ Mrs. Edna Page and Mrs. Rubie Shake speare, newly weds Mr. and Mrs. John Miller were honorees at a presentation party Monday mor ning at the Lincoln Post Office. Mrs. Wm. Springs Jr. and her daughter Linda recently returned from Parsons, Kansas. The Springs are now residing at 2124 Q Street. Mrs. John Miller was hostess for a foursome in honor of Miss Gladys Tillman of Chicago. Those present were Mrs. Norman Caesar, Mrs. Horace Cooke, Mrs. Walter Young. Miss Tillman is a niece of Walter Young. Mr. Warren Adams of Milan, Mo., was in the city on several occasions to visit his brother, Mr. Alonzo Adams, of Nebraska City. Mr. Adams who has been a pati ent at the Lincoln Veteran Hospi tal for several weeks is somewhat improved. Mrs. Eugenia Simms Brown is visiting at the home of her par ents. Mrs Brown has been in Baton Rouge, La., with her husband who is teaching at the Southern University. Mrs. Ed Todd was hostess at a one o’clock luncheon for 13 ladies in honor of Mrs. John Miller. The table was beautiful, with jonquils and pussy willow as the center piece and tall green tapers at either end of the table. Those present were Mrs. William Page, Mrs Roy Brooks, Mrs. Burt Newton, Mrs. John Irving, Mrs. Clayton Lewis, Mrs. Charley Scott, Mrs. Jewell Kelley, Mrs. Jeph Adkins, Mrs. J. B. Bonds Mrs. Loretta Swanigan, Mrs. J. A. Dean and Mrs. Clyde Malone. A lovely lunch was served. GRAND ISLAND NEWS Mrs. Levi Jackson had a family reunion recently. The Solomon A.M.E. Missionary Society is doing an excellent job furnishing the^ parsonage. All members of the society received their manuals last week. Little Miss Pricilla Jane Dan iels was honoree at a birthday party given recently by her grand mother, Mrs. Eliza Henderson. Taking pictures was the featured entertainment.
