If desired add chopped onion or leftover meat. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Shape into rounds about Vfe inch thick. Saute in hot fat in a skillet turning to brown on both sides. Beef Stroganoff ftMrs. Alberta J. Cooke A pounds Bermuda onions * pounds top round steak or left over roast 1 pound mushrooms 1 fcup butter or margarine 1 can condensed tomato soup 1 can tomato paste 1 cup sour cream 1 teaspoon salt Few grains pepper 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Put onions through food chop per, using coarse knife; then drain, saving juice. Cut meat in very thin slices; trim off excess fat. Slice mushrooms. Brown meat and mushrooms in butter or margarine. Add onions; remove from heat. Combine soup, tomato ^>aste , sour cream, seasonings ture.Cover; simmer 1 hour. Serve and onion juice; add to meat mix in ring of fluffy rice. Yield: 6 servings. Only one warning, these are real onions. Ice Box Cookies Mrs. Roy Killinger Hastings, Nebraska 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup white sugar V-i cup butter or shortening, or a little more for a richer cookie 3 eggs 1Vfe teaspoons soda dissolved in 2 tablespoons water 1J/2 teaspoons cinnamon 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup nut meats 5 cups flour Cream sugar and shortening to gether, add eggs and rest of in gredients, using enough flour to make a dough that can be rolled up like a meat loaf. Shape in rolls and put in ice box over night. In the morning slice thin and bake in moderate oven. The dough should be kept cold until ready to bake. Hedge) -It->rw-W~><->n<->n< )Q(~ >o<——>o< >n LB 421 Hearing (Continued from page 1) The new bill provides that “it shall be unlawful for any person firm or corporation, engaged to any extent whatsoever in the state of Nebraska in the produc tion, manufacture or distribution of equipment or supplies to refuse to employ any person in any ca pacity ,if said person is a qual ified, on account of the race, color, creed, religion or national origin of said person.” It calls for “a fine of not less than five hundred dollars nor more than one thousand dollars and such person so offending may be in addition be imprisoned in the county jail not less than thirty days nor more than ninety days.” “No one should be refused the right to earn a living,” Sen. Foster, told a VOICE reporter this week, “because of his race or creed. I am heartly in favor of this bill. “I am the father of its brother bill passed in 1943 making it un lawful to refuse to hire qualified persons becouse of their color or religious belief,” he continued. This bill widens the scope some what, he concluded. The Men’s Club at their regular meeting Wednesday passed a res olution favoring the bill. A copy was sent to Sen.
