Paul Ministers to
the Thessalonians
Scripture Text—Acts 17:1-11; 1st
Thess. 1:2-8
Memory Selection: “Be not weary
in well doing” 2nd Thess. 3:13
Topic: How Christ Changes Peo
ple.
Present day application:
Thessalonia was the chief sea
port city of Macedonia. For many
hundreds of years commerce of
the whole province had poured
through its portals, both imports
and exports.
The population had prospered
and gained great wealth.
Paul, Silas and Timothy poor
Jews came into their midst prea
ching the gospel. Poor men and
Jews did not receive a welcome.
Paul, just out of prison, dusty
and be-draggled was scorned
most of all. But he was a tent
maker and he went to work at
his trade to support them.
After many heart breaks and
aches they succeeded in forming
a church in the home of one Ja
son. The start of the church was
accomplished by personal Evan
gelism.
Integrity, personality, faith and
spiritual power in preaching, won
out and the entire city began to
come to hear the gospel.
Paul behaved himself as be
came a Christian. Christians to
day should take Paul’s example
and practice what they profess
and let their deeds demonstrate
their creed.
In this way we will have power
both with God and man.

What a pleasant thought comes
to my mind,
When thinking of those who are
passing from time; from this
world and its strife through the
wilderness of sin and shame,
when we can say with open
hearts the Lord has taken his
own.
