The S. S. Lesson
By Rev. R. E. Handy
Paul founds a church at Phil
ippi.—
Scripture Text: Acts 16: 11-15;
Phil. 2:5-11.
Golden Text:—
“I can do all things through
Christ which strengtheneth me.”
Phil. 4-13.
—Present day Application—
Paul went into Macedonia on
his second missionary journey,
following a vision in which he
was convinced that it was the
will of God that he should preach
in the western continent of
Europe.
It is the business of the church
to extend itself and to preach the
gospel everywhere.
Paul’s first congrgation was a
small company of women, and his
frist convert Lydia, a business
woman.
Others were converted and a
Christian Church was formed.
Silas was with Paul and they
suffered many persucutions.
Here they were put into prison,
there they were beaten, but Di
vine power made them speak out
boldly.
Opposition is some times the
reason why we should keep on
with the Lord’s work. God will
always bare witness to his Gos
pel faithfully preached.
Flatterly or danger did not
move Paul or Silas. The more op
position they had the higher rose
the manifestations of God in their
behalf.

THERE’S ALSO A LINEUP FOR
TELEPHONE SERVICE...
BUT you CAN'T SEE IT! I
Today you line up for meat, bread, butter, nylons, shirts,
and many other scarce items. You wait patiently for these
things, because you can see the line of people ahead of you.
At time* of peak traffic, telephone service is often slow]
particularly long distance service ... but you cannot see
the long line of other calls ahead of yours. We ask you to
try to visualize this telephone line-up ... it will help you to
better understand our situation.
