Tuesday evening from his visit with
relatives and friends over Christmas

day. after spending a week wth his
parents and friends.
Mrs. A. L. Baliman returned to her
home in St. Paul. Friday, after hav
ing visited a few days here with her
mother, Mrs. Sam Daddow.
Miss Emma Janulewicz. who has
been spending her holiday vacation at
home, returned to her school work at
York, on Tuesday morning.
Mrs. W'. J. Fisher and Alfred Bailie
drove over to Litchfield. Monday and 1
spent the evening with Mrs. Fisher’s
sister, Mrs. Jack Rightenour.
The Misses Barbara Sobiesczvk and
Rose Tapolski came up from Schanpps
last Thursday evening to visit a short
time with relatives and friends.
Nevin and Mary Bitner returned to
their home in Hastings, last Thursday,
after spending Christmas with their
brother, C. U. Bitner, and family.
Miss Frieda Dieterichs was a pas
senger to Rockville. Friday noon, to
visit New Years Day with relatives.
She returned home Monday evening.

home Monday from Rochester. Minn.,
where Mrs. Peterson has been in the
hospital for some time taking medical
treatments.
Miss Nellamae Grierson returned
Monday from Ansley. where she has
been spending her Christmas vacation
wth her parents, to take up her school
duties here.
Mrs. William Dolling and little
daughter returned home last Saturday
evening from Grand Island, where
they had been visiting over Christmas
with relatives.
Miss Clara Anderson and brother.
Ed. left Tuesday morning for Chicago,
where Clara wll attend school. They
will meet Miss Linea Johnson at
Lincoln, who will also attend school
in Chicago.
Miss Bessie Hasek. of Ravenna,
visited here with her sister. Mrs.
John John, and family the first of the
week. Mias Hasek went to Sargent
Monday evening, where she has ac
cepted a position with the Bee Hive
store.
Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Pratt drove over
from Pleasanton In their car Tuesday
and are visiting here with their
daughter, Mrs. T. M. Ward, and fam
ily. They were a ccompanied here by
their little granddaughter, Edith
Ward, who spent the holidays with
them at Pleasanton. Mr. and Mrs.
Pratt formerly resided in Loup City
and have many friends here.

The cornerstone of the new public
library will be laid on Thursday. Jan.
11th. The Master Masons Grand lodge
of Loup City will have charge of the
ceremony. A large number of people
are expected to attend this important
event.
D. D. Charlton of this county, who
held the position as secretary of the
senate during the last season of the
legislature, has been chosen as first
assistant secretary of the 1917 ses
sion. The duties will require Mr.
Charlton to be in Lincoln for about
three months.
Arthur Rowe had the misfortune
to run into C. H. French’s horse and
buggy with his auto last Sunday. Mr.
French was thrown about twenty feet
and escaped almost unhurt. The buggy
was demolished. Mr. Rowe was not
to blame for the accident, as the
street was covered with ice and the
car skidded in making a turn. Ronald
Rowe was in the auto with Art at the
ti^ne and it is Baid that Ronald's hair
stood straight on end, and is hard to
keep combed down to this day.
