G. W. Lang drove up some new Fords from Omaha last week. Every one is buying a Ford. The Rev. Wagner and wife went down the road on 40 Tuesday morn ing for Amherst, via Kearney. Mrs. Charles Herring of Grand Is land, sister-in-law of H. Linden, who has been visiting them for a few days W’illiam Garnett has taken posses sion of the Duncan restaurant and is renovating before opening things up. Mrs. Lew Hennis of Hazard re turned home on 40 Sunday. She had been visiting with Mr. and Mrs.' Lew ; Hennis. Guy1 Pierce and Mr. Rolley stayed , in town on Saturday night, Sunday and Monday getting Guy's car re paired. Frank Lamars and Henry Schulz ; are doing a good job of corn shelling : up the Clear Creek family so the far mers say. ' Mrs. Wm. J. Heapy and Miss Mary Gibson were passengers to Grand Is land on 40 Saturday returning on 39 in the evening. No. 43,the fast train west ran over Frank Hartman, of Litchfield, east of Hazard, on Tuesday morning, cutting him in ten pieces. I Glen Engleman and Miss Mable Lewis were married at St. Edwards, Nebr., last week. They arrived home on Wednesday on 39. Dr. Bowman came over to take No. 44 to Lincoln on Thursday, it was four hours late so the doctor had to exercise his patience. George Kenyon was a passenger to I Mullen on 43 Saturday morning to consummate the sale of his section of ■ land north of that town. S John Duncan returned from Omaha! ! on 43 Tuesday. He had taken down a j •V car of cattle and one of hogs. He had a better trip than he did last week. Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Norling were passengers to Ord on 40 Tuesday morning. They have been attending to their Litchfield store for several days. H. Haycraft left with his two loads of emigrant stuff for his new home at Henry, Nebr., near the Wyoming line. Mrs. Haycraft and family left on 39 Friday. - Fred Richmond came down from Alliance Friday morning which stop ped and let him off as they were be hind 40 at the Bow and could not transfer him. Col. Bob Stoffer cried the H. Hager aft sale on Thursday. There were not I many buyers in attendance. Bob is a new hand at the business. He aquitted himself very creditably considering the conditions. Wm. Spenser left with is car of emigrant goods for the ir new home in Oklahoma. Mrs. Spenser left in the evening of the same day Friday on 44. They are old time neighbors that will be missed by all. John and Pete Glade and family with some others of their people were pas sengers on 40 Saturday for Hender son, where they go to attend the fun eral of Klaus Freison. He died at O'Neil and will be buried at Hender son on Sunday the 17th. Henry Gade, father of Pete and John Gade died at Henderson, Nebr., on Saturday morning, the 10th, and will be buried there on Tuesday, the 19th. Mrs. John Gade and children were passengers to Henderson on Tuesday morning to attend the funer al. Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Fisher and family moved into their new house the first of this week. I have not seen the In side of it since it Is finished but 1 un derstand it is very nicely finished. They certainly have a lovely home and Mr. Fisher intends to have his garden and lawn in shape. He will run that part of it. Albert Boedking met with a very painful accident Monday forenoon. In fillig a large car with gas he slipped and fell from the car. The gasoline fell in such a way that some of it ran into his ear causing intense pain for some time and only after Dr. Pafk had give him two shots in the arm, two morphine tablets and then only after he injected cocain into the parts ef fected did he get relief.
