Careful Attention
O all our callers plays a wonderful part
;.n our bus-ness. We'd rather have a
man leave our store with a smile on his
face without making a purchase than have
a man leave with a frown after spending
his money For that reason we give every
man - areful attention and we make it
our aim to find out exactly what he wants
and see that he gets it.

O. A. Woods received a pony
by express last Thursday from
! Idaho. W hen he returned : from
that state some months ago, he
left the pony there, having taken
it out therewith him, and now
has just had it shipped back. It
is a little beauty and cost him
some $40 to have it returned.
We have received from Dr.
.Tames F. Blanchard, Osteopath,
formerly of this- city, but who
went to Los Angeles, Calif., a few
months ago to take a post gradu
ate course in the Pacific Medical
College of that city, the announce
ment of the graduation exercises
of the class of 1914, of which he
was a member.
E. A. Lalk, wife and baby,
from the west, were here a day
last week visiting the few remem
bered friends of years ago, when
Mr. La Ik's father was connected
with Lalk and Kriechbaum in
booming Loup City property. He
wanted to see how the city looked
from what it was years ago. He
expressed himself as astonished at
the wonderful improvements
made.
\\ e received a letter a few days
since from Frank Rossa at Kewa
nee. Ills., where he asks us to
transfer his Korth western, and
where he and family will make
their home. It was only a few
weeks ago that Frank and family
went to Union. Montana, where
they expected to reside permant
ently. but evidently Frank had
the lure of the east in his system
and finds it the greater winner.
May they find success where they
I are.
The St. Paul Republican last
week commented on the building
and expense E. G. Taylor has
l*een to in putting in the new head
gates and also gives Kelson Smith
credit for his engineering quali
ties in putting the enterprise
through. In doing so, the Re
publican credits the news item as
from a Loup City paper. We are
glad to have the Republican get
news from our columns, but why
not give due credit, if the item is
worth printing?
Someone has advanced the
opinion tliat the letter “JE”is the
most unfortunate letter in the
Engish alphabet, because is al
ways out of cash, forever in debt,
never out of danger and in hell all
the time. For some reason, he over
looked the fortunate* of the letter,
as we call attention to the fact “e”
is never in war and always in
peace. It is the beginning of
of ease and the end of trouble.
Without it there would be no
meat no life and no heaven. It is1
the center of honesty, makes love
perfect, and without it there could
be no editors, devils nor news.
The new “Central Nebraska and

marked by posts an poles punted
with a five inch band of white and
a five inch band of black above
and below. The rout* between
Broken Bow and Columbas has
been selected and will be mostly
marked during the coming week.
The route from Broken Bow to
Nort h Platte has not as yet been
selected, and it may go by way of
Callaway or by way of Media and
