Killy Sunday, the noted evangelist,
is turning Wichita, Kansas, inside
out from a religious standpoint, and
his epigrams, as usual, are somewhat
startling, unconventional, and by
the way very wholesome from a truth,
ful standpoint. Here is one: ‘ Lots
of people are put in as officials of
churches because they have several
suits of clothes and a fat bank ac
count, when they wauld look better
in penitentiary suits.”

The Northwestern has received a
pathetic appeal from Charley W. Pool
of Tecumseh. who is a democrat can
didate for governor, not to swat iiim
too hard over his candidacy, and
telling how many thousand or less
years he lias been a printer and editor
and worked for the salvation of the
democratic party, and incidentally to
furnish him with the wherewith to
wage his unholy battle for Aunty and
her ancient admirers. And this ap
peal to a black-hearted republican
newspaper opponet as well! Horrors!
Let the members of the republican
gridiron club see that he does not
make a touch-down. He has earned
defeat by his own confession.
Teddy Roosevelt might as well sur
render. There seems to be a deter
mined effort to make him take his
medicine in the shape of another
term as president of Cncle Sam’s do
main The demand is coming by
Mtads, companies and battalions, and
is bound to push him up the presiden
tial San .1 uan hill. Teddy says he is
not a candidate. So lie said when
lie was made to swallow the vice
presidential nomination a few years
ago. But lie surrendered then, and
there is a possibility that over
whelming public sentiment may cause
his surrender tills time. He was
uever known to surrender to a foe,
but was made to yeild to friends then
and may have to do so again. This
is neither "standpat” nor so-called
"progressive” talk.
The postoffice authorities at Wash
ington request, for the bee tit of the
public that especial attention be
called to the foreign letters rates
many foreign letters being posted
with omy two cents in stamps at
tached. Tiie only foreign countries
to which the two cent letter rate ap
plies are Canada, Cuba, Mexico, New
Foundland, the Canal Zone, Panama,
Germany (by direct steamers only)
England. Scotland, Wales,and Ireland
and the city of Shanghai, China.
To all other countries including all
other places than Shanghai in China,
the rate is live cents for the first ounce
or fraction thereof and three cents
for each additional ounce or fraction
which must be fully prepaid or the
letters become liable on delivery to a
charge equal tt double the amount of
the deficient postage. For instance
a single rate letter prepaid only two
cents, being short-paid three cents,
is subject to an additional charge of
six cents.

Mrs. Elizabeth Perkins
Elizabeth Shepherd was born in
Janesville, Wyoming Co., N. Y., May
15, 1848, on December 31, 1863, she
was married to Lewis Wilson Perkins
at Warsaw X. Y. To this union
eight children, five boys and three
girls were born. Two littie boys died
in infancy.
In April 1878 the family moved to
Midland, Mich., where they lived un
til the fall of 1880 when they came
to Kendall County.
Her husband died Xov. 4. 1897.
The next spring Mrs. Perkins bought
a home in Plano. She lived here un
til 1903 when she went to Loup City,
Nebraska to make her home with
her oldest son. She has been a wel
come visitor in Plano several times
since.
Tiie last time she was here was the
summer of 1908 at which time she
went to Cortez, Colo., where her son
had moved the previous spring.
Last May she was taken sich with
plueral pneumonia. Everything pos
sible was done\ for her comfort and
for her comfort and for a time she
recovered and was up aboutthe house
A few weeks ago she began to fail
and on Tuesday Xov. 21, she Coined
her husband. She joined the M. E.
church in her early girlhood and has
always been a faithful worker for the
cause she loved.
She leaves six children, Mrs. R. D.
Cody, ot Detroit, Mich; E. W. Perkins
of Cortez. Col; Mrs. Geo Gray of Mid
land Mich: R. L. Perkins and Mrs.
Will DeGoff of this city and Louis E.
Perkins also of Cortez. There are
also twenty-one grand children and
one great grand child, and one sister,
Mrs. M. S. Allen of Warsaw, X. Y.
The funeral services were held on
Xov. 27 from the M. E. church. Rev.
Mr. Meservey officiating who preached
a most comforting sermon from the
“Precious in the sigiit of the Lord
are the death of his saints.” She was
laid to rest in the A usable cemetery
beside her husband.—The Kendall

teen, Range sixteen and running

of the vacation thereof, and all ob
jections thereto, orclaims for damages

printed forms) best linen; 3,000 trip
licate tax receipts, blocked; 4,000
tax receipts in triplicate, bound and
perforated, 200 in book, for county
treasurer to fold for use with carbon
paper: thirteen sets of poll books, en
velopes and ballot sacks; seven chattle
mortgage tiles 200 in tile.
LOT TWO—1,000 1-8 sheet blanks;
5.000 1-4 sheet blanks; 3,000 1-2 sheet
blanks; 5,000 full sheet blanks: all
blanks to be of good quality paper:
3.000 note heads 6,000 letter beads,
note heads and letter heads to be or
good quality paper; 4,000 6^ inch xxx
envelopes; 2.000 10 inch xxx envelopes.
LOT THREE—Six-thousand elec
tion ballots.
Sealed bids for each or any of the
above three lots of supplies must be
filed with the county clerk at his
office in Loup City, Nebraska, on or
before noon of the 30th day of De
cember. 1911.
Sealed bids will also be received
and must be filed in the county clerk’s
office on or before noon of the 30th
day of December. 1911, for publishing
the delinquent tax list, county treas
urer’s financial statement, road and
bridge notices, and other notices re
quired by the county.
The county board reserves the right
to reject any and all bids.

builder's permits tor the erection and con
struction of buildings, within tho City of
Loup City. Nebraska, and prodding for' the
extension of the time for which said permit
has been given, and axing a penalty for the
violation of this ordinance.
Be It Ordained by the Mayor, and Members of
the City Council, of Loup City. Nebraska.

Any person association of persons, or cor
poration. Intending or proposing to erect or
construct, or build any building, whatsoever,
within the corporate limits of said City of
Loup City. Nebraska. from and after the pas
sage, approval and publiontion of this ordi
nance. shall first apply to the City Clerk of
said city, by application therefor, in writing,
duly verified under oath, an application for a
Krmit from the City Council of said city of
lup City. Nebraska, to erect, construct or
build such buildtng. In the following manner:
1st. By stating for whom said buMdlng is to
be erected, constructed or built.
2nd. By describing the premises upon which
said building is to be erected, construcied or
built, by stating the number of tbe lots and
block, or parts thereof, according to the re
corded plat of said Loup City, of record in the
office of the county clerk of the said county of
Sherman
