DRAINAGE PROJECT
Pleasanton Man Undertaking a
$4,000 Ditching Preposition
Robert Keirchmrn, who owns a
farm four miles north of Pleasanton,
is about to undertake a #4,000 ditch
ing proposition to reclaim nearly a
quarter section of what is noiwswarn p
land. Tliis land has a rich deep soil
but it is so located that it floods to
such an extent as to make it useless
for agricultural purposes.
This land is to be drained by a
ditch about a mile in length, and
the work will involve cutting a tun
nel through a hill. The work will
cost in the neighborhood of #4,000
but it will make of practically vvorsh
less land a farm double the cost of
the ditch.
It is said that there is quite a large
acreage of land in this county, along
the Platte and Loup rivers suscepti
ble to this kind of trearment. and
the resultof Mr. Keirchman’s under
taking will lie watched with interest.
